Kelly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

As the owner of Words In Motion Acting Studio, my mission is deeply personal and rooted in love for artists and their craft. Beyond the accolades and achievements of our studio, including Emmy Awards, Telly Awards, and recognition as Georgia’s Best Acting Studio for the third consecutive year by Georgia Business Journal, what truly sets what I do apart is my unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and promoting artistic expression.

My passion for supporting creatives extends far beyond the confines of our acting studio walls. In addition to leading Words In Motion, I also serve as Chairman of the nonprofit Georgia Arts Initiative and host the Kelly Talk Show Atlanta. Through these platforms, I advocate for myself and other artists who strive to effect positive change in their community.

. By creating spaces for artists to thrive and amplifying their voices through advocacy and outreach, I am fulfilling my purpose and making a meaningful impact in the world.

At Words In Motion Acting Studio, our brand is defined by our actors—their unwavering commitment to growth, their willingness to bend and move as they develop fine skills, and their ability to flow in and out of the space and time of storytelling. Like a finely tuned violin, our actors are skillfully played, knowing nothing yet embodying everything.

This philosophy is deeply ingrained in my personal journey, which began long before the establishment of my brand and will continue long after. Every encounter along the way has become a part of my being, contributing to my growth and shaping the essence of who I am. As actors are the heart of my business and the embodiment of my brand, their dedication to growth mirrors my own journey of continual learning, evolution, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. I am an actor too!

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

Throughout the years, Words In Motion Acting Studio, my business, has cultivated partnerships with various companies and cities. Yet, among these connections, my most profound partnership is with my husband, a Director and a 12-time Emmy award winner. Our journey began on a modest film set many years ago, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. Together, we’ve not only crafted films and embraced parenthood but also conceptualized shows and upheld a steadfast friendship.

While my husband often prefers the background, his expertise and wisdom are instrumental to the triumph of Words In Motion Acting Studio. Many of my students have had the privilege of collaborating with him on projects like “Hunting Souls,” national commercials, and short films, benefiting immensely from his invaluable guidance and skills. Though he may shy away from the limelight, his contributions stand prominently at the forefront of our endeavors.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

“Indeed, within the realm of filmmaking, there are numerous stories of resilience, such as the remarkable achievement of being the first movie in Georgia to assemble a crew during the pandemic for ‘Hunting Souls.’ This accomplishment speaks volumes about the determination and adaptability of everyone involved in the project.

It serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the filmmaking community, showcasing their ability to overcome challenges and forge ahead in the face of adversity. Such stories are truly inspiring, reminding us all of the importance of perseverance and the power of pursuing our passions, even in the most trying of times.
