We recently connected with Kelly Turk and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I have been in the Real Estate world for a couple of years. People often ask…how did you get into Real Estate? Well…back in 2020 when the world was undergoing significant change; so was I. I was at the tail end of a divorce and I was trying to figure out how to move forward with my life. I had always talked about getting my Broker’s license; however, there was always a reason not to do it. Encountering a cross road in my life, eventually gave me the reason to. Fast forward a couple of years, and I am LOVING what I do! I have always had a passion for working with and for people. My primary professional focus has historically been working with at-risk and under-served youth. Real estate has been a completely different track for me…but it has been exactly what I needed. Helping people realize a dream. During my real estate journey, I started my career with a different firm, which is very common. Although my previous firm offered me s many opportunities as a new agent; at a point, I felt that I maxed out at that firm and needed to reflect on where I was, where I wanted to go professionally, and how to get there. Fortunately, my best friend had moved to Compass and invited me to join her. It is the best decision I ever made. I now work on a team with three other driven female agents. Our team (Elevate DNVR powered by Compass) focuses on “Real Estate with Heart”. One of the cornerstones of our team philosaphy is community driven initiatives and giving back. This venture has helped me to give back to causes that I am passionate about (such as the Passage Way Scholarship which assists at-risk youth with scholarships to attend college and/or trade school) as well as causes that my business partners are passionate about. I work with a team of dedicated women who believe in providing exceptional service to our clients and I love working with them every day. For this and other opportunities, I can not be more gracious or thankful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As I mentioned previously, I got into Real Estate at the end of 2020. Professionally, I have always worked for a non-profit organization that provides services to at-risk youth. I always knew I wanted to work in the criminal justice system. Earing my Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2010 and my Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2012 from the University of Northern Colorado; it’s just what I have always known would be a fit for me. After over a decade in the industry, the passion for this work is still evident; however, the political tides have turned during my time in the industry which has made it more difficult for practitioners to do meaningful work. I have gone through periods of burn out in this career and I just needed another outlet to fuel my passions so I could keep doing this important work. In 2020, I was working my way through a tumultuous divorce and struggling to find myself in it all. For years, I had talked about getting my Broker’s License; but there was always an excuse not to get it. At this juncture, there wasn’t an excuse any longer. This, was easily one of the best decisions I had ever made.
Today, I am on team Elevate DNVR powered by Compass. Besides working with AMAZING clients, I have the opportunity to work with a group of three exceptional women who strive to set the bar in the industry as it relates to client experience, professionalism, and philanthrophy. I provide a variety of real estate services; however, I primairly work with buyers and sellers through either the purchase or sale of a property. I specialize in luxury real estate and in working with investor clients. I appreciate the opportunity to work with professional athletes providing a continuium of relocation and aquisition services. I also work with investors (typically couples and families) who wish to expand their real estate portfolios through property aquisition and rental opportunities. I have an exceptional team of service providers that I partner with to provide an unparallelled experience throughout the process.
I can not say I have one specific client or transaction that I am most proud of over any other; however, I have had the privilage to work with several clients who have entrusted me to assist them with their real estate transactions and I am so humbled by each and every opportunity.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I work on a team with three other dedicated female agents. But I will focus on Alexandria Reed. Alex and I have been best friends for over a decade. As you grow and mature as an individual, it’s no secret that your circle of trusted friends and advisors gets smaller and smaller as you get older. Alex, has simply always been there for me. Professionally and personally, she has always shown up. She is my best friend. She is my son’s God Mother and she loves and treats my son like he is her own. Through every struggle and every success, she has been by my side. As a person, Alex is who I srtive to emulate in my everyday life. A force of positivity and grace, she embodies so many positive characteristics that anyone would be proud to emulate. She manages her own non-profit organizaton called Gladiate Beautifully which focuses on female empowerment and offers a variety of services, classes, and opportunities for women to connect with a community. She is creative, successful, and an outstanding mother, wife, and friend. I am so privilaged that she plays such an integral part in my life. Now, I work with her, everyday and this experience has made such a positive impact on my life, I could not be more grateful.
I had the privilage of meeting Jordan Hawkins when we worked together at West and Main Homes. Jordan and I both transitioned to Compass from West and Main Homes to work with Alex. Jordan is so kind and focused on community involvement. She has recently moved to Atlanta Georgia, expanding the Elevate brand to Georgia impressing team Elevate ATL in the state.
Tori Kim, our newest team member, comes from the world of finance, offering a unique and specialized perspective to our business practices. I love doing life and business with these women and I am so humbled to be a part of this group each and every day!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think any business owner can discuss the resiliance it takes to endure the ups and downs. In real estate it is a running joke that you can have a closing one day and be unemployed the next. There have been times where I have gone a month or more without a client and sometimes it feels like you may not get out of the hole. You question your worth as a professional and wondering if you made the right decisions. At the end of it all, it is positivity, mindset, and the hustle that keeps you in the game and focused on what is important; your clients!
