We recently connected with Kelly Sues and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
My clients/customers are the lifeblood of my business. I would not be able to do what I love without my clients. My appreciation and gratitude towards my clients is what creates the genuine and loving environment I provide in every session. There is not one specific thing that I do, necessarily, it is more of an intention to “see” and fully accept with open arms the individual who is in front of me. Being able to build a sincere rapport with my client and to extend trust to be a facilitator of whatever healing they need at that time and in that space. For example, I absolutely love hearing about my clients’ lives (i.e. children, hobbies, dreams). I remember and reconnect with what they have told me from a previous session to demonstrate their importance. Unconsciously saying you are important enough to me to remember what is important to you. This is not a difficult task because I have an honest interest. So the key really, in my experience, is to genuinely love and appreciate another person. That shows that person that they are the center of your universe, your only priority during our time together.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the owner of Liquid Soul Yoga & Massage. I am also the only employee of Liquid Soul Yoga & Massage lol. Liquid Soul represents the aspect of me that I want to share with the world. Saying that I do massage and teach yoga only touches the surface. I work extensively with the subtle energy body through not only bodywork and yoga, but also sound bowl workshops and distance healing. The energy work that I do helps to release unconscious patterns that are held within the body, which create pain, discomfort, and disease. I am blessed to be able to use my birth-given intuitive gifts to enhance the physical work that I do. My biggest goal is to be a way shower of self love. I do this with individual sessions as well as group settings. One important aspect I have dedicated time and attention to is love and details I put in my work environment. Every decoration or piece of art I place in my office is placed with purpose and intention to create a calm and relaxing environment. The most important thing people need in the healing process is an environment that facilitates trust, peace, and love. One example of this, I recently started making crystal grid art. I will sit and meditate and ask for guidance on what intention and shape wants to be created. Once I get the guidance I just allow that creation to flow through me and into my crystals. I had one grid come through with the intention of peace and hope in the form of a flower. That very day as a client stood to next to my crystal grid, she paused and looked at me and said “Your office is one of the most peaceful place I’ve ever been.” I nearly yelled with excitement and exuberance while I explained the crystal grid with the intention. Don’t you love how the universe confirms things all around you?!!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started here in Florida, I worked at a studio as an independent contractor. Unfortunately, a catastrophe hit that studio, leaving it unable to be used for an extended period of time. This accident occurred on a Saturday and I had a full book for three weeks straight solid starting the following day with nowhere to practice!!! I had recalled a year prior my friend asked me if I would be interested in renting a room from another business. At the time, I was not yet ready to make that type of move. As this memory downloaded back into me, I reached out and inquired if the space was still available. By 6pm that evening I was handing over a month’s rent, and that evening I was contacting all of my clients, purchasing scheduling software, ordering supplies on Amazon…and so on. The next two weeks following I think I only got a total of five hours of sleep, lol. But on that Sunday morning, I was ready to go at 8:30am without a hiccup. My clients never experienced disruption during any of that time. It was definitely a whirlwind of events!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
This would be a lesson of accommodation. I pride myself on my ability to be accommodating. It is important to remain very flexibility, especially with scheduling and working around other peoples’ lives. I knew my schedule would be a little variable when I entered into this business, but I allowed that variability to take over my life. I easily fell into overextending versus accommodating. I allowed my boundaries to become too thin and began to experience burnout in my health and in my emotions. My lesson was having to figure out balancing boundaries with flexibility. I would say this has been a trial and error kind of thing, but I’m getting the hang of it!
