We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelly Sinning a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
The career path I have taken has led to many heartwarming moments over the years. One of the things I enjoy most about being a long term therapist is that I get to see and support my clients through so many phases of their lives. I have worked with adolescents from middle school through college and been able to witness them set goals, work hard, excel in college, find meaningful careers, help them through heartbreak, witness them find their partner’s in life. I’ve seen women find themselves in meaningful and powerful ways. I’ve watched couples repair their marriages and find the kind of love they’ve only ever imagined after years of feeling stuck. It is my greatest honor to be able to watch these things unfold day after day.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a licensed therapist and a therapeutically trained coach based in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the founder of Fulfill & Flourish Counseling and Coaching. My goal in my work is to support women in the way they should and deserve to be supported while in the midst of parenthood. There are so many women (myself included) that have felt isolated, alone, and unheard in their struggles with motherhood and I am here to change that. My passion for supporting women comes from both professional expertise and personal experience. After earning my Master’s in Counseling in 2015, my own struggles with infertility, recurrent miscarriages, and postpartum mood disorders led me to focus on helping women through their motherhood journeys. I understand how hard this phase of life can be if you don’t have people in your corner, and I want every women to know that they have someone in their corner.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I love this question, and the short answer is yes. Becoming a parent is such a core part of so many women’s lives- it certainly has been a core part of mine- and being able to walk alongside women in this journey is an honor and a privilege. I would choose this path every time because I whole heartedly know that if we can support mothers better then all of humanity will feel the positive ripple effect. I do not take this job lightly and I know the impact that this work has.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my passion for this work has built my reputation within the community. I am so dedicated to being the kind of support that women need in this phase of life, and I think people can feel that. When a client decides to work with me they are not simply getting someone that will give them their undivided attention for one hour per week, they are getting someone who thinks about them between sessions, who makes notes of things I think might help support them, who will check in during difficult or important moments, and who is always rooting for them. This is so much more than a job to me and I pour my heart into my clients.
