We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelly Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kelly thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
My influencer career just kind of happened. I was not intending for it to become a big part of my life. During COVID I was on limited hours at work and just kinda started posting more since I had the time and just having fun with it.. and the results were amazing. I wish I made the leap and took the time to focus on it way beforehand.
Kelly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My social media focuses around my actual life – it is not super curated and professional photos constantly. People want to see what you are actually doing these days. my day to day focus on styling for the busy women – I am a lawyer by trade and always have to look good but can not spend hours getting ready. If your a mom or a professional what are the quick tips to look amazing but only spending 10 min getting ready. Best products or little changes or just outfit inspo so picking your outfit tomorrow morning is quick and easy.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Mine was mostly built during COVID,…. I think people were bored at home and following like crazy (so there was a little luck in timing). Beyond that it was consistency… I was posting everyday… I had the time since I wasnt working … soo basically why not post I had nothing else to do. I posted about all sorts of topics – food cooking, getting ready tips, outdoors and saw was resonated with my audience. I think it is also important to always be tagging location – I live in LA and people around the world want to see what is going on in a city like LA
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That you are being embarrassing if you are taking photos in public or you dont have a perfect bikini body so why are you posting photos of yourself…. girls are told this constantly … and you know they are all just HATERS. I dont want to follow a perfect bikini body those clothes wont fit me… I like following real people with really bodys that relate to mine .. that is real outfit inspiration and you should not listen to the people that try to bring you down and tell you not to post in the beginning. There are too scared to do it so they try to tell you not to. If your having fun then who cares.
