Alright, Kelly thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

My parents were simple people, but their values & lifestyle had huge impacts on my life. My father was an educator and also my high school principal; my mother was a homemaker.

Their values of encouragement, compassion & integrity are prevalent in my choices, both professionally & personally.

I took a very traditional route and chose to raise our 3 children, while keeping the integrity alive in my need for creative expression, I would search for what that may look like. Once our youngest was finishing high school, I knew I was ready to merge my passion for art, nature & my own personal connections, which is now my business of hand painted leather/vegan leather items, Sixteen Sisters ~ Hand Painted Leather Jackets & Handbags

Their choices in parenting provided a confident foundation for the insight & the development of my dreams and goals…. that have become reality!

Kelly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m a self taught artist that loves all types of art, music and time spent in nature.

I wasn’t quite sure how to make a living with an art degree as a female in the 70’s, so I chose to focus my passion with color & art, to makeup artistry. Working with major cosmetic companies, as their resident or touring makeup artist, was my life until I married & became the Mom to 3 great children.

I was born in Illinois and have lived in Wisconsin & Arizona. I currently reside in Englewood, New Jersey where my apartment is also my studio!

This is 15 minutes from New York city & love the energy the city provides for my creations.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

By far the most rewarding aspect is finding peace. For me, the fact that I am able to create, not only for myself, but also for others to enjoy on a daily basis….I find such gratitude and joy in this alone!
Peace is achieved once I start to create and creating can change the direction of my day in an instant.
Creating is what I am meant to do.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Since I began this business in 2016, I’ve had the goal to donate, twice a year, 16% of my business for the day, to a local women’s shelter where I have offered paint classes with some of the residents. I’m working on a certain daily goal, in order for this to be effective for us both; increasing my online presence could help achieve this goal.
