We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelly Gray a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Yes! I think it is extremely important to have some downtime to recharge. I come back full of inspiration and ideas. It’s also nice to step away and come back with clarity, seeing issues in a new light.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My love of skincare and ingredients started at a very young age. It was a natural choice for me to get my esthetician license after college. I have been a licensed esthetician for 17 years now. I wanted to created a line of products that were everyday essentials that felt indulgent without breaking the bank. As a busy mom myself I relished in the time I took out of my day for a quick skin care routine. I want busy women, mom’s especially to be able to have a little luxury, a moment of escape in their day even if it is only for 10 minuets to feel beautiful and recharged. I believe quality ingredients that are good for the skin but also smell amazing is the core foundation of all of my body products.
I am very proud of the line I have created and the relationships with my customers that I have built over the past 5 years.
I have some amazing new body care products launching this year that I am really excited about.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the pandemic, like most businesses, I realized that I needed to pivot if I wanted to keep my business alive. I had a very small product line, but had always wanted to expand the body care line. I started selling soaps and candles as well, to this day they are still my best sellers
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I always go above and beyond in serving my clients. I also have very high quality standards and my customers have grown to expect that from me. I also consistently reach out to them, whether it’s a hand written note or emails that are giving them valuable skincare information.
