We were lucky to catch up with Kelly Diaz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I always ask myself if that risk is worth taking, if you’re not sure or it’s a no then don’t do it, but if it’s yes it makes sense then do it. I took a risk one of the scariest hardest moments in my life was to get my girls and myself out of an unhealthy environment, I was scared for my life and theirs. One day I picked up our life of 10 years and left unannounced. It again was the most trying time of our lives that resulted in the best way at the end. I had to quit my 8-5 because of the stress and mental state I was going through, I had a lot of court dates for custody that no job would support so I started a little beauty gig on the side that helped me through this time, selling makeup wholesale and making special holiday baskets. Even this was too much and was being blamed for working too much in court, I would never stand a chance of losing my babies so I quit it all. Then eventually ended back in the medical field again where I met my now husband. We both had experience in the Durable medical equipment field and sleep field so long story short we built our own business up together that thank god has been doing great for the last 8 years. Which allows me on my free time at home to share my social media content of lifestyle, beauty, and fashion a fun passion I have a hobby that just so happens leads to working with brands and some paid opportunities on the side

Kelly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started out with 2 years general college education then ended up with a medical billing coding license. Which led me to a DME company I was at for 10 years that provided me with so much more experience where I moved up the ladder learning management skills, multitasking phones, working with insurances knowing there guidelines, communication skills and much more. I did this to help support my family to not have to deal or worry with the verbal abuse I would receive by “just staying home raising my 3 babies” when I got passed the most hardest time of my life, I was able to pursue my passion for beauty and fashion on my social media page sharing my fashion, beauty finds by sharing links on a page called LTK where I receive commissions for just sharing what I wear I really don’t do that for the money I look at it like I do it anyway and people love what I wear so why not share it so they can have access to what they love too!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
You should never be afraid to give yourself and your kids a new start. Never be afraid to start over. To always believe in yourself and stay true to yourself. As hard as starting over may be the end result is so worth the struggle and wait. Give you and your family the best chance at life, the healthiest chance at life you only get this one here on earth. Chose your partner in life wisely, understand you need someone that will support you and your dreams it goes further in life than you truly realize, chose a loving partner, one that is on your team always.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
During Covid so many people were so scared to go anywhere. Our medical business was definitely slowing down and being hit with patients not wanting to come in. I had to come up with safety guidelines and scripts to assure our patients they were safe, because of new protocols we were able to run normal. During this time is also where my social media started to really kick off because of working from home more and free time I used it to grow my platform
