We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelly Alexander. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelly below.
Kelly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Risk Taking may not be for everyone, but when you want to see a difference its important to put your all out there no matter the outcome! Although, my path has privet-ed often while on the same road and destiny, the beginning was about taking a risk. That risk started with me having a vision of working for myself in the fashion industry and selling my own product line but using fashion shows and shoots as a marketing tool. After visualizing this I created a vision board and looked at my finances. They did not match the vision! Yet I refused to allow that to discourage me. If my focus remained on the have not, I would have never pushed for the HAVE! Here is where the Risk kicked in. I sat on the floor and poured out all of the coins I had been saving (you know, those coins that you toss in a jar, drawer or purse), from pennies, nickels, dimes and Quarters, I kept every coin and rolled them up for months. Grand total was $1000.00. I was at the time driving to and from work with an older Lexus that needed some work. My thought? Sell it and use the proceeds to fund my new life, business and dream. Since my work location was only 4 miles away I figured it would be my daily workout. I literally sold my car to use the funds to establish my vision outcome and I never diverted from it. With a clear vision I began implementing every step of business ownership. From chemist to containers to ingredients to where I would market first, to what bank I wanted to do business with. With little disposable funds and no car I enjoyed seeing my vision come to pass. 3 months later The risk paid off! My product began to land in the hands of models, designers and celebrities. Then it was time to push that marketing hack and show the stores and boutiques why they should host my line. All of the hard work paid off and moved me into the direction of being a business owner with a Hot new brand.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
When you are a creative one thing will snow ball into another and constant evolution of your brand will appear. I am the proud owner of a brand called TomBoy Wicked which was in stores and boutiques pre-covid. Once covid hit, all shelves carrying my line where shut down. I had to think of ways to stay in business and relevant. I had always aligned with Models and Fashion, so when I received an email for the desk of Anna Wintours it inspired me to stay true to fashion and create a show called, ” KAFTV Models Talk”. This show would feature models, designers and celebrities allowing us all to stay relevant during the covid years while shut down. When I did this my very first camera man, loved by many, Ramon Curtis Ward Jr. This Amazing man succumbed to covid and died just after the release of our 4th episode.
I suffered a huge loss, but also saw the relevance in what I was doing and kept going. Knowing to use every precaution for all involved. As I kept going my show gained more popularity.
At this time, I now have models and designers calling and asking to be featured. My show has been seen on Roku tv as well as KCAL 9 and most currently on Youtube and all social media platforms. I was awarded a HAPAward in 2022 for best fashion streaming talk show. In 2023 AWT Raising Star award and this year of 2024 “Global Recognition Award for its outstanding fashion and entertainment industry contributions.”
This persistence is what brought me into Fashion Choreography! People were tuning in and loved what they saw. I was now receiving request and My all time desire and favorite thing to do in the fashion industry was now an open door to Choreograph a huge show and oh my goodness was I ready. This allows my creative juices to flow and allows me to help direct up-and-coming as well as seasoned models into their destiny. However, there were a few things that I had to learn, but I was up for the challenge. Learning, Show-flow, timing, lights, and rehearsals like never before.
I have now Choreographed 5 runway shows and a host of Fashion shoots over the years. Which lends credence to why my becoming the Models PR would only push all my clients to the next level with the trust that they are in Great hands. You are the first magazine to get this information about 2025. KAFTV Model PR. and we will only take on models and designers. How fun will that be to help shape and move them upward. While still hosting the show Models Talk, still Choreographing the shows and getting them featured as I have been doing in Print. 2025 will be a Great creative year!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the Most rewarding aspect of being a creative is unleashing the gifts inside of yourself in such a way that the world, ” Gets it!” Sometimes you have ideas and the only person that can relate is your consciousness. However, when you take it from the inner court of your mind and soul and place it on paper, that is the 2nd process of pushing into the outer realm, courts, or into the sphere. Then coloring it with a theme that is now tangible so its not just words but work realized on the biggest stage ( biggest stage meaning no longer in your head) and now the world can see it and relate. This is true Creative love not just imagined but produced.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I am once again adding more to the question once answered. The second answer to that same question would be Love and realization is the other reward for me. Often working with models I know that with the young models it is up to me to help them see their beauty, creativeness and their worth. I find it so refreshing to remind the models that they were created for such as time as this and that they can be anything with proper training. I say this because one of the things I often have to do with the models is teach them that what they see on social media is not always what a designer wants. Each designer is different and although social media is a great tool, its not the bible to all fashion model etiquette. Once they get passed that part most models begin to learn to fall in love with who they are and how they present themselves to the fashion industry. This makes for a healthier model. This is the love and realization part and its by far my favorite part of what I do.
