We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kellie Cadogan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kellie below.
Hi Kellie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a child I wanted to be a singer- like a Whitney Houston kind of singer! and performer! I’d dress up in clothes and sing with brush in front of the mirror. However, the biggest problem I had -” I really didn’t have the Whitney kind of of voice”. My desire to learn to sing well or to deliver like some of the biggest stars at the time ( Whitney, Mariah, Sandi Patty), led me on a journey of self discovery of my own voice. I got my hands on every and any book that had to do with the voice and singing. Looking back, that journey was developing me personally but also preparing me professionally to serve others to discover their own voices as a vocal trainer, coach and now a vocal life coach.
The voice is the first instrument given to man by God and within it there is so much of our power in the life resides. In my own personal journey I’ve discovered confidence, I learnt how to encourage others in their own abilities and I’ve seen people freed and healed and transformed from mental bondages, grief, stress, negative self talk and so much more when they truly discover their own voices- not what society wants to hear but for which gives them joy, meaning and understanding of their lives purpose.
I therefore use my voice professionally as a singer to encourage, uplift and entertain people but also to help others discover and rediscover their voices.

Kellie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kellie Cadogan! I am a singer/songwriter/vocal life coach. I operate a vocal training and coaching solutions company in Barbados called East Point Productions Inc. We offer services within the arts with specific focus on vocal life coaching ( Kellie Cadogan Voice Studio) Vocal development ( East Point School of Music), Music examinations (our Barbados Centre is the authorized Centre for London College of Music) and Vocal Performance with artiste/founder Kellie Cadogan. Each year in June we host our annual event entitled – Walkin’ In My Own Shoes- It’s a vocal showcase providing a professional platform to celebrate the growth and development of our clients and students.
We solve the problems of unsafe spaces to thrive and hidden/undiscovered confidence to purse a passion/purpose . Whether you are a client with a vision or need for an engaging, uplifting performer to bring your vision life, a client desiring to build self confidence using the traditional foundations of vocal coach merged with the the elements of life coaching, a student who wants to improve vocally or to discover/rediscover their love of music, or whether you are candidate taking examinations for the 1st time or 10th time- we provide a safe space and wells of confidence that clients, students or candidates and draw from.
While we provide wells and a safe spaces, our source is the never ending spring and that is provided by the Spirit of God. Prior to 2020 ( Covid-19) I was in relationship with God – but there was something missing. In late 2020, after I came out of a period of dark depression with relation to especially my company and its purpose, I completely surrendered my company to Jesus and accepted His request to partner with Him. I listened to His direction with how He wanted me to grow. For example. There were areas I wanted to close because it was not working- specifically my website and our exam Centre (with London). The Spirit of God said to me “no”. do not close those two areas. Fast forward 2024/25- the website is thriving, we are being booked for events that I’d only dream of and the right type of event/conferences that are way beyond what I could think or imagine. As for London College of Music- we’ve now moved from 2 days of exams. We were stuck at 2 days ( for the last 8 years) and for the 1st time in 2025 we are hosting to 2 weeks of exams. This has been because of following strategic steps that the Lord gave to me when I asked for His direction. This is just a few of the many examples I’ve seen His goodness working in my life.
What we offer, how we operate is in obedience unto the Lord. We believe He will bless what we do and in His blessing He is also teaching us, equipping us to learn and re-learn and in the process, we know He growing us so we can pour out to others!

Have you ever had to pivot?
During Covid-19 the summer of 2020 I was depressed, I was in a very dark space. I was no longer clear on who I was on what I was to be doing. Yes, the pandemic was a part of it- but it went deeper than that. I thought I was experiencing success especially in my music but it’d come to a stand still. In my country, from a musical perspective I am known as Jazz singer- yet things were changing with my music desires and that I did not know how to comprehend. I was at cross roads with my life- especially my music. I read the book “Scared Pace” by Terry Looper and “Repositioning” by TD Jakes. I discovered how much I’d lost myself, I didn’t know who I was nor what I liked beyond my career. These two books in the summer of 2020 shifted my life tremendously. I sat on my couch one day, playing back my life and career choices. When I got to music I started to see that the one thing I was running away from still – Gospel music. Most of my albums have always had a touch of Gospel- but more and more God was giving songs upon songs and no one had heard them. It was then I decided I was going to work on the material He’d given to me in my personal time with Him. Yes, I am Christian but I didn’t want to be known as a Gospel singer- until one day I surrendered the titles and chose to do what He wanted me to do. I also surrender my life and my business and I accepted the invitation to partner with the Spirit of God. I can remember it as clear as day! A few months later I was producing the Christmas version of Walkin’ in My Own Shoes and the Lord said to me to sing the song He’d given to me at the show. I was reluctant because the song” Spirit of God” to me did not fit the theme of the show. Yet, I chose to be obedient. I worked on the song- vocal and keys and place the song into my set of the show.
At the end of the show all people where talking about was the song “Spirit of God”. Someone came and said to me “you should record that song and release it as a music video for the New Year ( 2021). Up to that time, 2 albums in, I’d never done a music video. Yet, as I sat in my bathroom ( passing water..lol) the Spirit of God spoke to me in a way that was very clear- I knew what I had to do.
In less that 2 weeks I recorded the song and created the plan for the music video ( something I’d never done before). In January 2021 I released my 1st music video and the 1st that truly honored God. During that year I released 5 songs and 4 music videos. The following year ( 2022) the Lord gave me instructions to start to work on my 3rd album. I was really not expecting that but He gave me strategy and changed my entire trajectory in my music career. In January 2023- exactly 2 years from the date I released the music video “Spirit of God” I released my 3rd album entitled “Intimate Journey”
The Lord reminded me that I had the desire in my heart many years to do Gospel Jazz- this journey with God has allowed me to merge both my love for God and the musical expression He has gifted me to glorify His Kingdom and to encourage lives I encounter.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The Holy Bible- life principles and business principles are rooted and grouned in God’s Word. I am now learning and seeing the connections and I am happy to be alive to discover and rediscover who God is and what He has planned for me through His word.

Repositioning- TD Jakes- if you are stuck, lost in understanding or finding your purpose- this is the book to read.
The Bait of Satan- by John Bevere- this book is THE BOOK after the Holy Bible! It speaks about offense and how the enemy uses it to distract us from growing in a healthy way as Christians. This a book I wished everyone would read!
The Awe of God- by John Bevere- I had the previlege to open for John Bevere with one of the songs from my 3rd album “Intimate Journey”- it’s called ” In Awe of You”. This book has opened up a new understanding and the importance respect and reverence unto God. It has shifted how I wake up and show up each day.
