Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelli Webb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kelli, thanks for joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
Wow, that’s a heavy one for me to say that I’ve scaled up! I’ve sincerely grown more into my career and journey, and I accept that I still have a way to go before I’m able to comfortably claim that I’ve scaled up. I believe striving to maintain my faith, and no longer fighting whatever my given assignment(s) may be at that time, in order to move me into the position(s) I’m currently in and the ones destined for me to step into.
Starting out not knowing what to expect, is and at times, still is a difficult journey. I can’t lie, I still question what’s my next move with some things, but the fact that I not only know what I’m doing but love it is so vital for my clients and myself. If that’s part of scaling up, ok… I’ll take that one. I set high goals and I don’t know how to immediately back off of set goals until they’ve been reached. I’m this way with my business and my clients. Having Dyamond Enterprises, Komfort Kollection, and KNK Design.co, not only known but located worldwide… at that moment, I can say… We’ve officially Scaled Up!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m originally from the South/East side of Chicago, born and raised, even though when I talk to people, I don’t sound like it (it’s been that way all my life). I’m a proud mother of two amazing, intelligent, talented young ladies who are my greatest achievements. In high school, I managed almost every team, while still being on the cheerleading team, dance team, student body association, girls club, and maintaining a 3.89 GPA. To be honest, I believe that started it all. I graduated with a double major with my bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Forensic Science, which I’m sincerely proud of, and worked as a nurse until my car accident changed it.
I started my agency in 2015 and to be honest, I didn’t think it would go anywhere. I was traveling between GA and IL, a single mom of 2 and I didn’t think I would gain the confidence for myself or from others, needed to represent clients’ babies (their brands/images) adequately or effectively, due to my fears. Through all of that, I launched Dyamond Enterprises as a Professional Consulting and Events agency, specializing in public relations, management, marketing & branding, and events in March of 2015 anyway. I was sincerely all over the place. I had no mentor at that time and was far from known in the business.
I had the opportunity to start my career in 2005 learning the rope while working and being trained by the CEO/founder of Legion Records in Chicago. He literally took me under his wing and taught me everything I needed to learn regarding talent booking, talent management, public relations, building relationships, as well as being his PA. For me, that was the best mentoring I could have received at that time without knowing I was truly being mentored. Thanks to him, I’ve taken everything I learned then regarding client representation and I’ve incorporated it into how I run all my businesses across the board, of course with my twist on things.
I’ve been blessed to work alongside and with some amazing clients, as well as collaborate with other publicists that are out of state to assist with their clients. Dyamond Enterprises handled the publicity for the B-Groomed Expo ATL (a Barber expo of 4500 attendees), the grand opening for Black Ink ATL with Caesar, She Prints It printing Company, F2G Radio, Seed 2 Shirt, the highly requested and acclaimed 1800 vs 2020 stage play, Waterless MediPedi Spa, and ATL POC for Margaret “Shug” Avery to name a few past and present clientele.
I love to see the joy in, and a client when they know their brand/image is moving to the next level.
In 2020, I took my passion of being creative to the next level by launching two companies at the same time. I launched Komfort Kollection (www.komfortkollection.com), a comfort boutique, with our first release being our Komfort Kandles. I also launched KNK Design.co, our professional organizing company, where we come and declutter your clutter in your home, office, storage, and more (website coming soon). Candles and organizing are my calm places. It’s relaxing and allows me to slow down and embrace what’s happening in that movement, and the end result of seeing the beauty of your hard work and the satisfaction of those that it’s helped… Well, that’s the icing on the cake for me.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My faith drives everything! My mission is to leave a legacy and generational wealth for my family for generations to come all while still being a source to help others do the same. I desire to be able to take what I am creating and teach others to do it for
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I started expressing my creative side as a vessel. In the 7th grade, I begin writing poetry and then songs. I would dance for no reason and sing everything from country to r&b. As a creative, you find the beauty in creating things that come to you in random moments. I would find inspiration in the strangest places, people, and ideas. I allow myself to consistently put myself to the test, to see what I can come up with next, and I consistently remind myself that I’m allowed to always be a student and I love that.
