We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelli Wallin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelli below.
Kelli, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
These days, the marketing idustry is very AI-driven. Here at Ready. Set. MARKET., we strive to keep our efforts locally-centered, and people-driven. Every business, particularly local, small businesses, have very different needs when it comes to marketing. That requires personalized strategies, rather than cookie cutter solutions. When you get to know your clients and their goals, developing a strategy that will best work for them is much easier.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Indiana born and bred, I moved to Lake Havasu City after high school. Shortly after making the move, I became heavily involved in the local pagaent scene and began making connections around town. After working for others for many years, and after seeing a need among the contacts I had made, I took the leap 6 years ago and opened my own marketing firm, KelliWallin.com. Steadily working and building a client base, as well as taking over the vendor management for several large, local events, in 2023 the time came for a branding and organizational change, and Ready. Set. MARKET. was born!
We are a small, local firm with big dreams. Specializing in being a one-stop show for all things marketing, we pride ourselves in providing high-quality, customized service to each and every client we serve. From business analysis and Customer Relations Management, to social media, advertising, and event management, Ready. Set. MARKET. is ready to help our clients take their business from Local to Legendary. It’s what we love to do, and I am very proud of the relationships we have, and continue to create.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a presence on social media is a process that takes time, determination, and consistency. It starts with getting your name out there every chance you get, in a way that reflects your values and mission. Sharing business sucesses, letting people get to know you and the things you value outside of work are great ways to break the ice and start building your brand. If you are involved in volunteering, share that! What you value in your personal life, you tend to value in your business life as well. As people get to know you and associate you with your business, they’ll come to understand what kind of service or care they can expect from you.
To those just beginning to build their social media presence, I would say learn from those who have come before you. Follow someone you admire and watch how they promote their brand. Incorporate elements of what they do into what you are doing. Also, be your authentic self. Don’t try to sell a version of you that doesn’t really exist. Most people can spot when someone is being less than real.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
For me, the best source of new clients has always been networking and word of mouth. Network at every given opportunity. Attend mixers, speak to new people, listen to others, and talk about what you do. If you are passionate and knowledgeable about what it is you do, people will be interested in hearing more. And, if they don’t need your services or product right at this moment, more than likely, they know someone who might.
The more authentic and professional you are, the more word will spread about your business. Stay true to your word and honest with your clientele and your reputation will grow in all the best ways!
