We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kellema “kelley” Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kellema “Kelley”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I ever took was to become an actress. I tried it as a hobby when I relocated to Atlanta just to see if I could do it! My first stage play was titled “ REAL” I played the typical baby momma with the drama. I nailed it! Now I have done a lot more of it! Plays, Short Films and a few projects including background, that have landed on Tubi and YouTube. Now, I was never the popular kid growing up, so I kinda fought a lot! I had to because I would get picked on. I was the girl known in the neighborhood for always fighting. But around my family. I was up and rising star!! lol . I would impersonate family members and was really good at it. My uncle use to say you need to be on someone television! He named me Miss Hollywood!! I’m now an outstanding individual and I don’t like being around negative energy. My childhood molded me to be the person I am today! I’m Extraordinary!! ☺️

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an Up and coming actress born and raised in East St. Louis , Illinois. I moved to St. Louis Mo to raise my children. I’m an Interior Designer and a Lingerie Boutique owner of Subtle Envy! You can visit my website at Www. SubtleEnvy.com. I always loved dressing up, impersonating people and decorating. Therefore, I incorporated all of my skills into one to come up with my lingerie business. I also love, love and affection. The world needs more of it! What better way than to dress up and role play with the one you love, lol!!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was to stop having such a dominant mindset! It’s Ok to be vulnerable. You can ask or even accept help from others! It’s not a bad look. Stop letting your pride get in the way! You never know who’s there to be a Blessing!!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, Love and People!
We just need to get back to love.
Love is a journey and of course like anything else, there are obstacles and distractions, better yet temptations.
You just have to keep focus and know your mission!!
