We recently connected with Kellee Halford and have shared our conversation below.
Kellee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
L’Erin Greenfield from idea to execution? Hmm, now that’s an interesting thing for me to ponder. To some degree I have worked in planning and execution my entire life. I am the daughter of a master strategic planner and entrepreneur, so I was never going to be able to launch a business without having a strategy in place. The idea to start my creative consulting, planning facilitation and project management firm came because I was already doing the work. I have been a background singer and support vocalist for several years giving me the opportunity to watch and learn various aspects of the music business, especially production. I also happen to enjoy solving riddles and solution finding. After a few friends asked me to administrate their creative projects (i.e., live recordings, book releases, album releases, business launches) I realized, during the pandemic, that this was my “calling.” I started my business in the heat of the pandemic in 2020 because so many of my creative friends were looking for ways to continue to produce creative work while “stuck” inside. For 90 days I refreshed myself on what it takes to launch a small business in my home state. I also took advantage of work opportunities that would allow me to save funds to launch my business in its beginning phase. I started simple, with a business name and no product other than me and my expertise. I knew I needed to obtain the appropriate licenses to operate a professional services business. There were only 3 steps to start: name the business, obtain a business license, get to work.

Kellee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a native of Tennessee who has had some form of musical outlet since the age of 3. My musical inclinations were fostered by my parents along with a love for learning and an astute attention to details in planning and plans implementation. I enjoy processes and process analysis so starting a business to assist creatives with developing and implementing processes and plans to bring their dreams to life was a bit of a no-brainer. L’Erin Greenfield Consultants, my firm, was founded in 2020 with the intention of helping creatives “reverse engineer” their creative visions into practical components that allow them the opportunity to pursue their creative ventures with ease. LGC works hard to ensure that we are a “warehouse” type resource to address a variety of creative needs, consequently, we make use of our network and relationships to ensure the right guidance and infrastructure is in place for goals to be accomplished. We have helped musicians, singers, actors, screenwriters, playwrights, muralists, authors, and more launch businesses, create content and produce projects and programming. We’ve also provided services such as event management, artist development and artist management. The main thing I want potential clients to know is that we do not “take over” their vision, we assist them with fulfilling their visions.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been consistency. I say that because I personally made the decision to focus on what was already in front of me. The friends turned clients who already needed my services on a consistent basis were my primary focus. I believe it is part of my purpose and journey to help those around me build their futures. In so doing, I have had the opportunity to produce consistent, constant successful results and quality products. My clients always mention my name when asked about who helped them “pull off” their events or productions. I am deeply appreciative of every client who willingly refers to my business when asked by their associates and acquaintances.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Constancy has helped build my reputation. People know that I will always show up with my best efforts to preserve their visions in congruence with their character and the brand recognition they establish. Also, I’m the same whether I am contracted or asked to assist in an emergency.
