We recently connected with Kellee Browning and have shared our conversation below.
Kellee, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
At Infinity Cuts and Creations, we have built our business on the hope that we can bring joy to each customer we interact with through our products and customer service. One of our primary product lines centers around items that support mental health initiatives. These products focus on positive self image, reflective tools and resources, and affirmation and praise for self and others, as well as mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We feel that the normalization and accessibility of mental health resources is incredibly important. This is a very personal cause, as our family has experienced struggles with mental illness, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, addiction and suicide attempts. Through these experiences, we realized how many have struggled with similar issues, and how many people feel they cannot be honest about their experiences or don’t know where to turn to for help. We strive to always be a light to show you are not alone, you can get help, there is no shame in asking for help or needing more resources, and there are resources available, despite the stigma and boundaries that continue to affect those struggling with mental health and their friends and families.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a wife, mom, and maker of all the things! Our business is truly a family-run business that stemmed out of a small side gig. We started off with a few engraved products and have grown into a business with hundreds of different laser engraved gifts, decor, and more. We got our first laser right around the same time that COVID hit. While we were stuck at home for those first few months, we decided to take a hobby and turn it into a business. While I do the majority of the sales and order fulfillment, we would not have a successful business without the hard work of my sister and mom! My sister has two young children, so often works remotely on new product design and advertising for sales and events. Our mom handles a large majority of our product packaging and shipping, along with handling the not-so-fun bookwork and inventory tracking. We take great pride in our work and always strive to provide high quality products and customer service. We are incredibly proud of the business we have been able to build and hope to continue to build and grow for years to come.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Providing quality products paired with good communication, quick order fulfillment, and excelling customer service has been the foundation of our business model from the start. We may not always get every order right, but we always work hard to make it right and make sure our customers are happy. This practice has helped us to build strong relationships with our customers and with other businesses as well!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love having a picture in my head and working to see it all come together to create something beautiful! Whether it is an idea I came up with for a product I haven’t seen or think the market needs, or a custom product request from a customer, the ability to offer something that might not be available without my creativity and hard-work is incredibly rewarding.
