We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelichia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelichia below.
Kelichia, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always had a passion for bringing out my creative talents. I’ve been writing stories, poems, and songs since my younger years. I would make up fairytales, in my head. I enjoyed tv shows and would wonder what steps I needed to take to follow such a path. I would challenge myself to see if I could guess the next lines or scenes. Most of the time, I was pretty spot on. I knew I could do great things with my imagination and talents.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m most proud of my many talents. I’m always willing to take risks to pursue ideas that come to my mind and heart. I’ve had the pleasure of owning and operating my own body waxing studio. I’ve enjoyed publishing my first work in 2007. Having stood up my corporation, Kelichia Company Inc., I’ve had the opportunity to really tap into my skills as an entrepreneur and business owner. In turn, I’ve rendered consultation to others that are pursuing business startups.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is watching my visions come to fruition. Being able to see all of my hard work, come to the stage, has given me a boost of more confidence in myself and my abilities to direct and produce great content. After premiering my stage play, in the summer of 2022, I knew that I could create and do anything that I put my mind to. It helped me to truly believe in myself and know that I can conquer anything. With that driving force, I am looking forward to producing an Atlanta show, in 2024.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Currently, my creative journey is driven by my need to bring awareness, about domestic violence, to communities, and how it impacts everyone. I want to inspire others to bring their stories to light. My creative journey has been around, and I don’t plan on it going away anytime soon. I want to help others to step outside of their comfort zones and use their creative passion to motivate positive change and growth in their own lives.
