We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelia Gipson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kelia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful in my opinion takes self discipline, consistency and determination. However, I have to place emphasis on “discipline”. I developed my view of success from my own experiences. It took me a while to fully understand my success or at least embrace it, just because I hadn’t yet accomplished all of what I would consider my “major goals”. If you ask me success is subjective to each individual person. I didn’t yet consider my self successful until I started reaching financial milestones, acquiring large assets, or closing specific deals. I wouldn’t have been able to reach any of my goals had I not stayed consistent, challenged myself on days where my productivity may be low and remembering why I’m doing this.

Kelia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a business owner and fashion model in Los Angeles CA.
The first business I started is BCHIQ SWIM. The idea to start my swim brand came from my model career. I was often booked to work with brands and the challenge of having a curvy body type in a dynamic industry helped me find a market that needed more exposure. BCHIQ SWIM has been such a fun and challenging opportunity for me. I started the business from scratch and have worked in every department of the company from Sales and customer service to shipping and receiving. The brand has expanded from when I first started including product variety and staffing. I’m really excited for the future of the brand.
My second business venture is Investor-Hub. Investor-Hub is a real estate consulting firm that I founded in October 2023. I developed the idea to launch this company after owning a multi-family apartment structure for over a year and while studying to be a licensed realtor in my state. I acquired my first investment property in another state, completely across the country and I conducted all of the research myself with the idea of ensuring that it would be a wise investment. Once I went through the home buying process, I then knew what information was paramount in making a wise decision when acquiring this type of asset as a profitable investment. What Investor-Hub offers its clients is an opportunity to have a professional provide you with key information to help clients make a wise decision. We offer various tier packages where clients may receive several property listings along with the property data, financial indicators, and other key details contributing to the value and risk factor of the potential investment. In return the client has more confidence in knowing if the investment is right for them.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice is to place high attention on working conditions, department collaboration, effective communication training and resources, and overall human resources.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Its hard to say one source specifically. I believe retail spaces and social media marketing have been the best source for traction and brand exposure for sure.
