Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelee Love. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kelee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
After a divorce in early 2012, I experienced the darkest time in my life. Due to unresolved trauma, I developed a substance abuse problem with alcohol and subsequently found myself almost homeless, unemployable and without any financial support within a matter of months. I hated myself for the choices that had led up to this time in my life, and I knew I had to do something different or I was going to die. It was then I had to make a decision to change my life by quitting drinking and healing myself through therapy.
At the time, choosing a path of recovery was the biggest life changing risk I could take! I was combatting years of self sabotaging beliefs about myself, what I deserve and how to find true happiness within myself. Taking the risk to enter recovery landed me on the path to healing myself, and later helping other women heal.
After several years of healing with the help of therapy and coaching programs, I discovered myself again. I explored activities, like hiking, helped me feel inspired and connected to my true, authentic self. I intuitively would hike to work out some current emotional problem I was facing.
On this particular hiking day in late 2016, I had an inspired thought to take an even bigger risk! I was encouraged by my intuition to teach other women to heal themselves and become public with my healing journey in hopes of helping others discover healing for themselves.
The day I chose to risk being seen by sharing my journey, was the day that my journey into Entrepreneurship started!
As I risked posting about my healing journey on social media, I was invited to teach classes to build confidence, self-love, and how to heal from the past experiences of trauma, abuse and addiction. Because of taking the risk to be vulnerable with my healing journey, I have had the pleasure of coaching and helping women from all over the world with my individual private mentorship, group mastermind programs, retreat experiences or just with the connections I have on social media., I have said YES to each invitation to take a risk to be vulnerable enough to share my experience, in hopes to help other women heal from their past traumas so that they can heal and experience a life that they’ve only dreamed.
In 2020, I was asked to take a massive risk in sharing parts of my story on television. This was something that I had been terrified of! I mean, live TV? The risk to say yes to these interviews has paid immense dividends for myself and others. As I have accepted several more invitations to share parts of my experience on Utah’s local morning show, ABC4’s Good Things Utah (nine appearances to date), I have reached women who have now trusted me enough to guide them to their own healing journey, which wouldn’t have been possible without risking looking silly on live TV.
Early this year, I was presented with the biggest risk of my life and career to date! I was invited to Costa Rica to experience the magic and healing that this place offers. I fell in love with the culture, the people and the environment so much that I decided it was time to facilitate retreats here in Costa. Deciding to pack up my house in Utah, I currently reside within a mile of the sandy beaches of Costa Rica. I travel back to the United States every few months to host events in the US. Last week, my risk to set up retreats paid off when I hosted my first guest with subsequent retreat guests later this month!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am undoubtely the coach or mentor you go to in order to build unshakable confidence and deep self love. My brand is all about taking your power back and through my programs my clients experience a deep self acceptance which results in freedom to live their dreams. I have been unapologetic about being true to who I am, and that gives the women I serve permission to do the same.
With a desire to help other women learn to love themselves, I found a need in my community and it was my job to fill that need. I realized that if I didn’t have the necessary tools to learn healthy boundaries, self love, healing from trauma and building confidence, that many other women probably felt similarly, and my desire to be of service was born!
I believe that what sets me apart from other coaches in my same industry is that my clients genuinely feel like I have walked a mile in their shoes, because I almost always have. Each woman who hires me, knows that I am the perfect guide to help them heal from traumas, abuse and addiction, because I have healed from my own gamit of self destructive patterns that come from a lack of self love, lack of self esteem, poor boundaries and overall confidence issues due to addiction, abuse or traumas suffered.
I am most proud of my ability to use my experience of healing to help my clients and they trust me immediately as they know I walk the walk and embody healing for myself. My innate ability to recognize long term, self destructive patterns quickly, and provide the necessary accountability and support to my clients to heal, brings me a constant flow of referral and repeat clients. I will dive with each woman into the depths of their own trauma to heal and shift out of their self-defeating patterns that keep them stuck in jobs they hate, relationships that are toxic, or just generally dissatisfied with their life. After we identify these destructive mindsets, what usually happens is finding new found joy, freedom and peace by attracting long term partners who love and adore them, creating new thriving businesses, waking up excited with their current careers, traveling and/or experiencing things they never thought possible, and so much more!
I take satisfaction in knowing my community members as I take a real interest in any person that comes into my world, regardless of if I believe they might need my services.
As the owner of my company, I have been lucky enough to have two beautiful women who work alongside me in supporting the clients we serve through our coaching programs. I believe that each individually brings a considerable insight and value to the services we offer in our programs and it takes a village to create and sustain what we have built collectively.
The relationships I have built with each woman who I work with usually becomes a lifelong friendship thereafter as I deeply love and appreciate each woman I have the opportunity to serve.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have always believed that if you love what you do, who you serve and your offerings, growing your clients will be easy. That being said, one thing I had to realize is that growing clientele takes time. My strategy for growing my clientele has been about service and providing something for free (a class, ebook, etc) which can solve an immediate problem they are having. An example of this would be to provide a free class to help solve an immediate problem, followed by an offering to experience a much deeper transformation in regards to what they might be experiencing. I know that if I give someone a great initial experience with the work I do, that will carry immense dividends later on. Most of my business is referral business because of a free offering that turned into a paid client later on down the road. We are in an information age, so anyone can find out anything they desire in the moment, but the goal is always to help each person FEEL differently about themselves in a more empowered way. If I can do that in a free offering, that usually results in a booking or referral down the road. My mindset has always been about “service first, profits later”, which means that I can offer something of value to help empower someone, they will feel the transformation enough to tell their friends about how I helped them, resulting in clientele.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
LIke many other business owners, when the downturn of the economy hit post Covid-19, I experienced a monthly income loss of about 60%-75% per month. I had saved enough money to keep my business afloat for several months until I made the difficult decision early in 2021 to go back to a corporate job. I hadn’t worked full time in a corporate job for several years, so this was a difficult experience for me to return back to working for someone else, instead of having the freedom and time to continue my own business. I did not let this setback stop me from spreading my message of self love, confidence and empowerment. Although I wasn’t able to focus solely on my coaching programs, I still carried a small number of clients and worked diligently to rebuild my brand, while restructuring some of my past programs to be more aligned with the current economic climate. I found a way to reduce my overall personal and business expenses, so that I could quit that corporate job later in 2021 and refocus my energy on doing what I truly loved.
What this experience taught me is that I can withstand any setbacks I might face in my business. My desire to spread my message of self love and empowerment has helped me be resilient despite external circumstances that are out of my control.
