We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelcee B. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelcee below.
Kelcee, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Something I love doing to show my couples I appreciate them is sending them a framed print of one of my favorite photos of their day.
Photos are so important to me and having forever memories that live on a screen isn’t how I want to look back or show off my adventures. I’ve always enjoyed looking at photos hung on a wall or flipping through a photo album. So sending a tangible photo my couples can look at, hold, and hang on their wall to see everyday makes my heart happy.
When my couples receive their framed print in the mail they’re always surprised and text me with so much joy how wonderful my gift is to them. I try to make sure their print is delivered to their house around the same time their full gallery is finished so they can experience re-living their wedding day in a special and heartfelt way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kelcee. I am an elopement & intimate wedding photographer and videographer based out of Sedona Arizona.
I grew to love photography when I was in high school. I used to love taking photos of my animals and flowers in my backyard and was also a “wanna be” Youtuber. I had a vlogging camera I carried with me everywhere when I worked at Walt Disney World and posted Youtube videos regularly.
When I got laid off in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, that tragic time opened my eyes and realized I didn’t want corporate America to control how much money I made each year and work 12 hours a day away from my family. I picked up my dusty camera wanting to try photography again and make a business out of it. I photographed everything from dogs, newborns, families, seniors, to couples. When I photographed my first wedding, that is when I realized “oh my goodness I love this. I want to do this forever!”
Since starting Escape and Adventure in 2021, I have traveled all over SW USA and the PNW to document adventurous weddings. My favorite weddings to capture are with unique activities my couple enjoys doing; off-roading, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, having a picnic while watching the sunset, or even skydiving (which I have photographed and oh my goodness that was the coolest day ever).
The thing I am most proud of as a business owner is prioritizing my couples and putting their experience first. I’ve always loved helping others and being able to guide couples to create their best day yet makes my heart so happy. Weddings are so stressful and when you’re eloping you’re pretty much DIYing everything. Being an expert in eloping I’m able to help my couples find the perfect location for their elopement, suggest activity ideas for their day, send a list of trusted vendors to enhance their elopement experience, and create a detailed timeline of their day with lots of buffer time to relax and take in the beautiful scenery.
The day of a wedding, I tell my couples story in a documentary and candid way surrounded with natural elements. I love capturing everything from small people big world shots (where the couple looks so small like a tiny ant standing next to a huge mountain), the tears running down the groom’s cheek, to the dirt that stained the bride’s beautiful dress.
I honestly could talk for hours about the love I have for my job and the couples I have the amazing opportunity to meet.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honestly not being afraid to be myself I think is how I’ve grown in the wedding industry. On the outside, everyone is the same. We photograph weddings, we have a camera, and we’re able to tell the stories of amazing people getting married. But on the inside, it’s who you are that the couple is hiring.
What’s made me different from everyone else is the way I tell my couples stories and how I put my true self out there. I treat my Instagram Stories kinda like a personal account. I love sharing the adventures I go on, the climbs I’ve accomplished when I go bouldering, and even any time I get a bread roll at a wedding (which is the number one thing I am know for, haha).
When I share on social media I often post what makes me happy, what I want my future couples to see, and what would be the most helpful for anyone planning an elopement. Using social media as another tool to share my work and my knowledge as an elopement expert has helped a bunch with booking new couples and making new friends.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the joy my art brings to my clients. I love telling stories through images and film and the fact that my work gets to live with someone’s legacy for a lifetime means so much to me.
