We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelby Joseph. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelby below.
Hi Kelby, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
Back in the day, when I was working at a FedEx drop-off point, doing the whole routine of packaging and shipping, I stumbled upon a lesson that really changed how I see work. You know, the usual drill of clocking in and out, wondering if what you’re doing really matters.
I was there, taping up boxes and feeling a bit lost in the day-to-day. I had these big dreams, but the reality was sticking to the mundane tasks. It hit me – am I just worthless in this gig? Then, out of the blue, a regular customer drops a comment about how hard I work. Caught me off guard, honestly. Maybe I was just trying not to get fired, but it got me thinking.
What if I approached every task as if I owned the whole darn company? Long story short, that mindset shift at that ordinary job ended up opening doors I never saw coming. Fast forward to today, where I’m running my own business. I still spot those folks just there for the paycheck, not caring about the work. It’s my cue to nudge them, remind them to bring their A-game, and find joy in whatever they’re doing. We’ve all been there, right? Clocking in, daydreaming big, and finding unexpected lessons in the most unexpected places.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I embarked on my journey in video production driven by a passion for making movies. However, I quickly realized that my desire to create impactful content surpassed the satisfaction derived solely from the finished films. This realization prompted a strategic pivot, leading me to explore the intersection of my filmmaking skills and entrepreneurial aspirations.
Fueled by a genuine interest in helping others succeed, I ventured into producing videos for companies and individuals striving to make their mark. It was through this shift that I discovered a profound sense of fulfillment—one that emanated from the impact my work had on the success of others.
At KKO Productions, our focus extends beyond the realm of creative video production; we are dedicated to providing comprehensive video strategy, production, and post-production services to companies. Our videos are not just about aesthetics; they serve as powerful tools to build brands, drive product sales, increase visibility for apps, and connect people with services. What distinguishes us is our unwavering intentionality in approaching each project. While we take pride in crafting visually stunning videos, our primary emphasis lies in understanding what the videos can achieve for our clients.
We thrive on the belief that effective videos go beyond mere visual appeal; they should deliver tangible results. It’s this commitment to purposeful video creation that sets KKO Productions apart in the realm of creative content. We invite potential clients, followers, and fans to not only appreciate the aesthetics of our work but to recognize the transformative impact our videos can have on their brands and objectives. At the core of KKO Productions is the belief that our success is intricately linked to the success we enable for others.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve had to press the restart on this company at least 3 times. Once I quit and went back to school, only to take everything I learned and reapply it to what I thought was a failed company. I once tried to shut the company down and didn’t have the funds to pay to disband the LLC, so I figured I might as well stick with it. I once heard a man say that dirt is never truly dead, it just needs more nutrients. I feel that way about entrepreneurship. If that fire burns inside of you, sometimes it may be but a flame, but other times, it could be something that takes over. Either way, you succumb to the need to accomplish what is in your heart. My goal wasn’t always clear. I went from movies to filming weddings to music videos to car commercials. It wasn’t until I was clear with myself and intentional with the company did I began to find success and joy in the work. I want my skills and my team’s skills to help others find incredible success. Once I began that journey, I never looked back.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I think because our work is mostly people-facing, the best sales agent I have is the work itself. When our team produces incredible work, we start getting phone calls. But if you have another option for me, let me know! I’m all ears.
