We were lucky to catch up with Keith Mcdonald recently and have shared our conversation below.
Keith , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My wife Allison and I have an extensive background in the hotel, restaurant and culinary industry. After working for such companies as the Ritz Carlton and the St. Regis we decided back in 2017 to look into our own business. Our experience and the feeling that ownership was a natural progression, we decided to purchase a full service Bed and Breakfast on Cape Cod in Barnstable Massachusetts. It was during these years that we really honed our cooking and baking skills. Fast forward to 2022 we took advantage of a hot real estate market and sold the business as a single family compound which now houses young adults with learning differences. With the proceeds from the sale we decided to move back to our home state of California to be closer to our families. After relocating back to CA. we came up with the idea of an organic bakery. Again this felt like a logical next step given our past kitchen experience; not to mention a huge book of incredible recipes.

Keith , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Allison and I met while working at a resort in Laguna Beach CA. Between the two of us we have over 50+ years of experience working in the restaurant industry. Our passion and knowledge of the industry has always driven us to learn and elevate the foods that we prepare. Organic high quality ingredients has always been something we want to align ourselves and our brand with.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We started our first business (the B&B) on the east coast just before Covid 19 shut down the world. Being from CA. in an unfamiliar State with a new business was a tough and unexpected beginning to our new life and career. But with our positive attitudes and can’t fail work ethic, we turned what could have been a business killer into a thriving and very successful Bed and Breakfast experience..

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Getting out in the community and consistently attending local farmers markets. Personal engagement and customer service has always been a focal point in any of our business endeavors. We have developed a strong following and strive to provide consist, elevated artisanal baked goods.
