We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keith Dow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Keith thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
Veterans are misunderstood by the public and themselves in a post 9/11 era. We have this idea that we have to be something or we should be something else. The public wants to thank us but if you asked them, they might not be able to tell you why. The good news is service is a great thing and we should all be proud to stand up for others and to have others stand up for us. The bad news is service takes a toll. Telling the story of that toll is part of what I have become so passionate about and look forward to achieving every day.

Keith, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been writing ever since I could hold a pen and I have come to understand that stories are how I learn best. Trying to gain a better level of understanding of how to help people tell their stories and how I am most comfortable telling my own is something I try to bring to everything I do these days. In helping to produce literature by veterans with Dead Reckoning Collective and navigating the healthcare system with veterans facing health issues with HunterSeven Foundation, I am digesting stories and trying to help others implement the best way to tell them for themselves and for others.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Legacy. I want to leave behind fewer questions for my children and more answers.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When I have written something and someone from a different walk of life relates to it. Even better, when I write something and someone takes a different lesson or meaning from it than what I conveyed personally. Creating something and feelings something is one thing, but helping someone else do that with something you have created is even better.
