We were lucky to catch up with Keith Brake recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Keith thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission. Well, I focus on creating artistic imagery with other creatives. There is no other photoproject that I enjoy more than artistic collaboration between creative minds!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my journey into the photography world when my daughter graduated High School. We needed a camera to get images of the ceremony so I bought a starter kit from Nikon. From there it went into me getting into covering and photographing live music bot local and national touring and now I own my own studio in Du Quoin, IL. At the studio I have had many visitors ranging from well known STL personalities to local students getting senior sessions. Thru my time at the studio I have realized that I enjoy my work more if it isn’t work so I focus now on artistic collaboration. I have a hashtag I use for the studio that I feel is fits #notjustashootanexperience . I try to make every session with my models “Not just a shoot, an experience”.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to create imagery that could be also considered art. I have just *really* started with this mission and have a few shoots under my belt with this endgame. I love the creative process and the problem solving that comes into play when multiple ideas collide. I feel for the art to happen it must be a collision of visions.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
This is quite easy for me. The most rewarding part of this whole journey has been the people met along the way. I have had photo sessions with some of the most amazing people I would have otherwise never gotten to meet. Of course I get gratification from people enjoying the imagery but the relationships forged along the way are just the best.
