We recently connected with Keisha Stewart and have shared our conversation below.
Keisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Infinite Possibilities, Inc mission is to aid (rental, utility, food, clothing, hygiene, and case management) and provide services to prevent displacement of families, to provide for unsheltered families and to provide subsistence services to unsheltered families. Our goal is to provide basic necessities for work, school, and self-empowerment to help improve/sustain quality of life.
Recently, we helped a single parent with rental assistance that had a child attending Tanglewood middle school. The mother is a hard worker that has been employed at her current job for over 9 years. Recently, her property manager raised her rent from $650 to $1000. The increase in rent caused her to get behind on bills and face various hardships. Our organization provided one-month rental assistance to help the mother get her bills back on track. Also, connected her with job resources where she was able to get a better paying job. We were able to assist with food resources and hygiene resources for the family.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I created Infinite Possibilities (IP) social networking group in 2010. Gathering many people for social events and charity work to bring the community together. In 2018, Infinite Possibilities, Inc (IP, Inc) was formed as a 501c3, non-profit organization. My strong passion to help children sparked the vision of IP, Inc. I worked 21 years with Prisma Health, 10 of those years were in the Children’s Hospital-Pediatric Hematology & Oncology. Seeing families from different backgrounds and suffering from displacement as well as extreme poverty gave me the passion to serve this population. The organization is growing every day to assist families living in extended stay hotels/motels, homeless shelters and many other families experiencing extreme poverty in the White Horse Rd corridor area.
Currently, we are community partners with United Way-OnTrack Greenville. We are able to provide rental and utility assistance to children and their families that are displaced or vulnerable to displacement that attend OnTrack Greenville middle and high schools. (Berea middle, Lakeview middle, Tanglewood middle, Berea high, Carolina high, and Greenville Early College) Also, we are able to provide food and hygiene resources to these families as well as provide case management. We are passionate about improving the self-esteem of children, so we provide new clothes, shoes, hairstyles, and other hygiene items needed. We equip our parents with resources to improve their quality of life. We provide financial stability resources, employment resources, and education resources to all families we serve.
It is my personal vision to help children achieve their full potential in life. We must first stabilize the parents to achieve this goal. Surrounding families with support and encouragement is my purpose and a true calling. Directing families to sustainability and elevating them to better opportunities is a true blessing.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Dedication to serving the community help build the reputation of Infinite Possibilities, Inc. Organizing frequent community outreach events and build relationships with the population we serve made us reputable.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Infinite Possibilities, Inc was initially funded by our original four board members. We would pay monthly dues to our organization to provide or services to children and their families living in homeless shelters and motels/hotels. We started out the first year providing new clothes and shoes to 50 children. The next year we had fundraisers as well as our board member’s dues to be able to provide new clothes and shoes to 115 children. The following years we applied for grants, applied board member’s dues, as well as fundraising and were able to gain more capital to grow and expand our services to more opportunities for displaced and vulnerable to displaced children and families.
