We recently connected with Keisha Maclin and have shared our conversation below.
Keisha , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I want my legacy to be left through my children & the generational wealth I’m working to build. I want to show not only my children but all the kids in my life and everybody around me what God & a lot of hard work can accomplish. I want people to always remember that no matter what obstacles I faced, I kept pushing forward and I always made it happen!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am 29 years old and a mother of two amazing sons who are 10 & 7. I started doing mobile bartending in May of 2019 after throwing a party for a friend and from there Cup Of Mobile Bartending was born! I’ve worked in many different atmospheres since that time including nightclubs, hotels & several restaurants. I specialize in mixology and providing elite customer service! I started Absolute Best Virtual Assistant on January 17, 2022 on the anniversary of my brother’s passing. I have always been very good at organizing and I have a background in bookkeeping so I put all those skills to use to create ABVA. I cater to helping small businesses keep their day to day tasks flowing effectively so they can focus strictly on servicing their clients. I provide all services such as calendar management, bookkeeping, scheduling appointments, managing booking sites and answering services. As of September 2023, I am also a certified tax preparer for Snappy Tax Refunds. I have been trained in all areas regarding up to date tax laws and I am able to service in all 50 states! I am really a one stop shop for any service you need!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Recently when I decided to become a tax preparer, I had to readjust my entire life. I had just started a new job and had to be in classes after that, on top being a full time mother and running two other businesses. I had to really put my organizational skills to work! I had to make a new schedule that catered to all aspects of my life so nothing got neglected especially my children and myself. It’s so easy to get caught up when you’re working to build something and they don’t always understand why I’m always all over the place. I had to learn how to give myself grace in those areas and just keep my schedule consistent and it made life so much easier!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that if you’re not where you want to be in life by a certain age it’s not possible at all. Having that mindset was creating a lot of self-doubt and wasn’t helping me prosper. One day I was so overwhelmed with life and I had a mental breakdown. I prayed so hard for God to clear my mind and block out all distractions so I could focus on what I knew I needed to do. I prayed for the spirit of procrastination to release me, for motivation & drive I thought I lost. The next day I woke up and since then I’ve made a conscious effort to be better than the day before. It’s still a process but since I’ve stopped thinking that it’s not possible for me, I’ve been thriving and these businesses are staying booked and busy!
