Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keisha Fullerton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Keisha, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
In 2022, I took a significant risk by expanding my brand from an online-only presence into the wholesale specialty market. At the time, I was still employed by another brand, and I was concerned about the potential impact on my livelihood as I ventured to build my own company. Designing had always been a side hustle for me, but this decision was a bold step towards realizing a long-held dream.
To mitigate potential conflicts and ensure a smooth transition, I hired a dedicated sales team to represent my brand in the Southeast. This strategic move paid off, as we successfully opened over 30 accounts and continue to grow.
Almost two years later, I recently showcased my third Spring/Summer collection at the Atlanta Apparel Show. Reflecting on this journey, I realize that taking the risk to launch my brand was driven by faith in my vision and a belief that I could overcome the challenges ahead. This leap of faith has proven to be transformative, as the brand continues to make steady growth, I feel confident in my decision and look forward to where RAIMENT is headed as a presence in the market.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Raised in a family rich with creative talent—my grandmother, mother, and aunts—all of whom possessed their own artistic gifts, I discovered my own creative passion in a unique way. Although I didn’t learn to sew until I was 19, my love for sketching was already well-established. Designing became my sanctuary, a way to bring to life the garments I longed to see in my own closet and express my personal style.
This journey of self-discovery and creativity led me to the fashion industry, where I founded RAIMENT. My brand is more than just a line of clothing; it’s a celebration of confidence, empowerment, and individuality. At RAIMENT, the focus on meticulously crafting each piece to evoke a sense of pride and elegance. The designs are inspired by the timeless grace of my grandmother and are intended to empower individuals to embrace their unique style.
What sets RAIMENT apart is the dedication to creating garments that blend classic sophistication with modern sensibilities. Each collection is thoughtfully designed to resonate with our clients’ personal stories and aspirations. We aim to solve the problem of finding clothing that not only looks beautiful but also makes the wearer feel empowered and true to themselves.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Growing up, I was taught that success meant securing a stable 9-5 job with a great salary, staying with one company for decades, and building a comfortable life through that security. Entrepreneurship wasn’t promoted or encouraged in my environment—it was seen as risky and unpredictable. The path to success was clearly defined: get the job, work hard, and eventually retire with a pension.
However, as I progressed in my career, I began to realize that this traditional approach wasn’t going to create something long-lasting or generationally beneficial for my family. The idea that a great job with a steady paycheck would be the pinnacle of achievement was something I had to unlearn. I realized that true legacy-building required stepping out of the conventional path and embracing the uncertainty and potential of entrepreneurship.
I also had to unlearn the notion that everything needed to happen within a specific timeframe or according to someone else’s expectations. For years, I let external opinions and societal timelines influence my decisions, often doubting my own instincts. It took time and self-reflection to stand firm in my beliefs and trust my inner voice.
Looking back, I sometimes wonder what might have happened if I had pursued my dreams earlier by listening to that inner voice instead of following the well-trodden path. But I’ve learned that it’s never too late to build something meaningful and to trust in the journey, even if it diverges from what was expected of me.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of what I do as a Designer is witnessing the transformation that happens when someone sees themselves in one of my creations. There’s an indescribable joy in watching their face light up as they realize just how amazing they look. It’s not just about the clothes; it’s about the confidence and light that radiates from them in that moment. Seeing them stand taller, smile brighter, and embrace their unique beauty—those are the moments that make all the hard work worthwhile. It’s a powerful reminder of why I love what I do.
