We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keisha Cineus a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Keisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
My friends and family are my biggest supporters. I am blessed with everyone who is around me, I would not have made it this far without the encouragement and support they have shown not only my business and talent but me as a whole. I can go and say I need everyone to vote for me for a particular award or tag me in a post and they will go crazy. Loved is an understatement I am Blessed!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a full time makeup artist who Quit her job at 18 years old and decided I wanted to jump into the beauty industry like my parents. My mother is a full time hairdresser of over 28 plus years. My dad is a barber for about the same time. The entrepreneur is in me always has been i knew when I graduated I wanted to do something to make people feel better about themselves. That is my biggest reward even if it’s just 1 person who’s happy I have done my job. My clients are my pride and joy and what get me up in the morning to push harder for greatness. I am proud of the No’s , the closed doors in my face everything because that’s what made me who I am today. To my future clients / followers… I am a good time you get in my chair and leave feeling amazing as well as gaining a long time confidant and friend. In my chair you leave more beautiful internally and externally than when you came in.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My business started with word of mouth honestly. I used to walk everywhere drive everywhere and hand out my business cards and greet everyone I come across. The worse they can say is no thank you. This was before social media was even a thing as popular as it is today. Word of the mouth is powerful.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Having good customer service and a good attitude had helped me so much when it comes to my business and reputation and relationships. You can have 2 clients or 200 clients and if they come back is determined by how you treat them.
