We were lucky to catch up with Keisha Ballinger recently and have shared our conversation below.

Keisha, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

The most meaningful project I have worked on is the birthing, recording, and release of Jeremiah 29:11(Jeremiah). This song was written in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic, one of the largest global critical junctures processed within most of our lifetimes.

Additionally, Jeremiah was written while in the process of preparing for a separate KDB Ministries project. The biblically based piece was given to us under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The resources and tools needed to complete the project were divinely given; from the title of the song, date of the release and to our late producer, Mr. Jetton Barnes.

The journey in preparing to record and release Jeremiah, catapulted our team into a higher level of spiritual, artistic, emotional and financial thinking. Individually and collectively, we began obtaining resources that aided us in moving the ministry and business forward through our daily operations. This meaningful project raised a standard for the entire KDB Ministries team and its partners.

Keisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Keisha Donyelle Ballinger is the youngest daughter and ninth child of the Late Dolphus E. and Evangelist Mother Ona Rush- Ballinger. She has five sisters and four brothers. Ms. Ballinger was raised in the Church of God in Christ and has always been nurtured in the love of God. Music has been a part of her life since birth. Growing up she enjoyed listening to The Clark Sisters, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Anita Baker, Hank Williams, Patsy Kline, Otis Redding, The Thompson Community Singers, J. S. Bach, Handel, Chicago, Queen, Take 6 and several other artists. However, she attributes her love of music to her siblings and mother.

Ms. Ballinger has accepted the call to minister to God’s people through song, word or just a simple hug. She is currently approaching her 23rd year as a licensed “Reverend” a preacher and teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She understands that when God speaks, she must move. God has blessed her to minister to souls across the world, from Oklahoma to New York, to the continent of Asia. Ms. Ballinger had the pleasure of sharing a platform alongside highly awarded artists such as Mrs. Shirley Murdock, Ms. Le’andria Johnson, Minister Fred Hammond, Ms. Jennifer Hudson, Minister Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago and Dr. Ricky Dillard and New G.

Ms. Ballinger attended and graduated from Warren Township schools. During her junior and senior years at Warren Central High School, she received multiple letters from colleges and universities, regarding her musical ability. She attained both a BA. in Education and a Master’s of Education –English as a Second Language (ESL), from Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma. Throughout her journey at Langston University, she performed with the LU Concert Choir, Chorale (traveling group) and the Lyric Singers, which was comprised of all female voices. In 2007, she had the opportunity to travel to several countries, including China and Japan to study abroad. She has professionally worked with children and families for more than fifteen years to ensure the safety of children residing in the state of Indiana and their families.

Ms. Ballinger was led by the Holy Spirit to pursue ministry and start her own business full time. She is the owner/operator of KDB MINISTRIES LLC. She has served as a contractor for several ministries in rebuilding their music departments. Ms. Ballinger currently serves as the Assistant Minister of Music (MOM) for her family’s church, True Victory COGIC, the MOM for University United Methodist Church and MOM for the Rehoboth District of the 4th Ecclesiastical Indiana North Central Jurisdiction COGIC, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Despite her busy schedule, She continues to write and release music along side the entire KDB Ministries LLC team to include, “Jeremiah 29:11″, “Midday Worship Medley”, and recently released “War Chant” and “War Chant” music video with more music to be released. Is there mission driving your creative journey?

What drives our journey is our desire to first be obedient to God, as well as the desire for the people of God to feel a sense of hope, to feel seen, heard, and loved. At KDB Ministries that is what we strive to do. We strive to spread the love of Jesus to every man, woman, boy, and girl. We want them to know that Jesus loves them and that we do too. We do more than just say we love you, but we demonstrate it in all that we do.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

The Holy Bible and a healthy support system are high on my radar for recommended resources. However, My KDB Ministries Team is without a doubt a recommended resource. At the time KDB Ministries was established, the Holy Spirit declared that more businesses and ministries would be birthed out of KDB Ministries LLC, hence “Ministries” being plural. Each member of KDB Ministries was hand picked by God from the background singers, to the band, to the administrative assistants. Every team member has an individual ministry and/or business that is currently thriving. We have team members with businesses and ministries that span from health and wellness, juicing, event planning business, literacy tutoring, sound engineering, jewelry consultation and financial planners/ investment consultants. #WeDoMoreThanJustSing.

Although the team members have their individual businesses, they remain to be the hands and feet of KDB Ministries LLC. They drive the ship, essentially having one of the strongest influences on the operation of KDB Ministries. Divine team work puts the dream to work!
