Being a single mother of three children, with the added responsibility of caring for my grandson, has always been challenging, especially financially. With one income stretched thin, I often found myself struggling to make ends meet. One day, overwhelmed by the mounting bills and the impossibility of working a second job outside the home, I prayed for guidance on how to bring extra money into the house without leaving it. Little did I know, the solution was already within my grasp—I just hadn’t realized it yet. That’s when I began my journey of starting Spread the Love Body Butters and Scrubs with Essential Oils, LLC, turning my love for creating nourishing products into a thriving business to support my family.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my business has been far from a smooth journey. Every dollar spent came from my own pocket, with the only outside investments being $150 each from my oldest son, Randy, and my daughter, TaTyana. Beyond that, I financed the entire business on my own. There were times when I didn’t have the money I needed, and my parents graciously allowed me to use their credit card to purchase products, which I made sure to pay back in full. The lack of financing was one of the hardest challenges I faced, but with faith and determination, I pushed forward, knowing that this was the path I was meant to take.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Spread the Love Body Butters and Scrubs with Essential Oils, LLC, where I specialize in creating high-quality, natural skincare products. My work focuses on crafting body butters and scrubs infused with essential oils, designed to nourish the skin while also offering the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy. What sets my products apart is the meticulous care and love I put into each batch, using only the finest ingredients to ensure they are not only effective but also safe for all skin types.

I am most proud of the positive impact my products have on my customers. Hearing how my body butters and scrubs have helped people feel more confident and cared for in their own skin brings me immense joy and fulfillment. What truly distinguishes my brand is my commitment to quality and the personal touch I bring to every product. Unlike mass-produced skincare lines, my products are handcrafted with attention to detail, ensuring that each one meets the high standards I set for myself and my business.

I owe a great deal of my success to the incredible support system that has surrounded me throughout my entrepreneurial journey. My children—Randy, TaTyana, and Joshua—and my grandson Antonio have been instrumental in both financially assisting me and providing unwavering encouragement. They believed in my vision and helped me when I needed it most. My parents, Doris and James, also played a crucial role by allowing me to use their credit card for purchases when funds were tight, and their belief in me has been a constant source of strength.

My friend Erica Peek has been an invaluable teammate, always ready to transport me to events and assist in selling my products. Her dedication and support have made a significant difference in my ability to reach customers and grow my business. Finally, I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported and continues to support my business.
