We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kedrin Meehan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kedrin below.
Alright, Kedrin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I feel incredibly blessed to be able to wake up and get paid to do what I love. I have such a passion for not only the artistic aspect of lashes and brows, but the special conversations that are shared between myself and clients. As a young girl, I would dress up and pretend that I owned my own company. It’s really exciting to see that dream beginning to form, as I open up The Artistry, An Aesthetics House this spring.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I fell in love with lash extensions unexpectedly. I went into the beauty industry aspiring to work in corrective skin treatments. The first time I practiced lash extensions, I instantly fell in love with the unvarying, artistic process. I knew this is exactly where I was supposed to be. The beauty industry is constantly changing styles and techniques, so there’s always something new to learn and master. It’s the relationships I’ve built with my clients that keep me passionate. Getting to know these incredible women, and hearing their stories is such a blessing. Through this field I’ve been able to meet some women I’ve looked up to, and made lifelong friendships with others.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistency. My clients know exactly what to expect when they walk into my studio. That’s true from the amount of money they pay to the atmosphere in the room. I want my clients to feel comfortable and just as important as they did on day one, as they do on day ninety one.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
2020 was a really challenging year. I had just moved into doing lashes full time for three months before I was asked to close down. I closed my business for what I thought was going to be two weeks. That lasted three months. I cleared every bank account I had during that time just to get by. When I was told I could open my business back up, I wasn’t sure I was going to have the funds to do so. Thankfully my loyal clientele helped me climb out of my financial ditch. With the amount of people moving to Nashville during that time period, my business grew exponentially in a very short period of time. I closed my books to new clients not even one year after reopening.
