We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keddrick Gatson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keddrick below.
Hi Keddrick, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Well the thing I love about my parents is that they noticed I had an interest in playing the piano at the age of 13 years old my parents invested into me they noticed the passion i had for playing the piano so they bought me my first keyboard which was a PSR 47 Yamaha. I remember it like it was yesterday lol. I remember spending countless nights and hours rehearsing songs with my father he was a Pastor/Singer so he was very hard on me. But I’m very Thankful for that because he saw the Greatness with in me. That truly help set the tone of my career as a musician/producer…

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Keddrick Gatson Aka “KGflyboi” Born in Louisiana, raised in Atlanta GA, Music production has always been my passion i was infatuated with dope melodies, crazy chords, and hard drum patterns. Back in 2009 I was introduced to a good friend of mines Gary White, Aka “G white” the plug 🔌 man lol he noticed the talent of Me and another good friend Carlin Muccular, together we built a huge buzz around the City!!! Major producer’s like jazze pha, and tricky stewart, was showing mad love!! As time progressed I signed my 1st deal with L.A. Reid music publishing. And it was history from there!! As a creator. I’m known for doing the things i love and being the best, I can be at them, in other word’s just known for being me. I am making music I’m very proud that people appreciate and enjoy my work. I put my all into it and just to even hear people say, “I Love your Song” or “You make some great content” just give me this feeling of satisfaction. I take it as a Blessing. What sets me apart from other’s? Well, I feel like I’m in my own lane and truly I’m myself. I never was the type to try to fit in I just did my own thing and that’s what makes me stand out.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes… well it’s been several times I felt like giving up and not knowing where my career is going.. It hasn’t been smooth. Understanding music. Making ends meet while still chasing a dream. Dealing with backlash. Dealing with criticism from Non-Musical people, music being stolen, feeling not good enough. However, my faith in GOD wouldn’t Allow for me to give up on my Dream! Every obstacle I encounter helped shape me into who I am today!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing i had to unlearn is that everyone is not going to love my music my music is going to touch the people that it needs to touch and I’m totally fine with that lol
