We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kearis Long. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kearis below.
Alright, Kearis thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy will be that I was an impactful woman who genuinely helped other women just like me, who are smart, strong, and ambitious. I want my children to be proud and know their mom left a legacy with morals and integrity, knowing that I was brave enough to stand out and stand up even when I felt like I was falling.

Kearis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 29-year-old wife and mother to two amazing children. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in creative writing. I also am certified in Healthcare Documentation. I currently am a peer review specialist for a medical publishing company and also a serial entrepreneur. My business is Poized Jewels, which means an “elegant gem” A prized, yet rare possession. I got info my industry because I knew that I wasn’t “ideal” I didn’t have the slim nose, or thin lips, nor the perfect smile but in knew I would be perfect for the right someone, the right everything. My brand and I represent the gems in the rough who’ve faced trials and tribulations, heartache, heartbreak, health issues, and losses that make us as women so poised. I want women to know that their body is their sacred place and deserved to be cared for and treated as such.
A couple of years ago my OBGN told me I had abnormal cells on my cervix, and I decided to take my health into my own hands. I made sure I was drinking plenty of water, taking my probiotics, and vitamins. I knew I wanted to create products for women derived from all natural ingredients to target better feminine Healthcare that was gentle to the body. So, I, with my supplier came up with a formula for all-natural pineapple-mint feminine wash, honey yogurt feminine scrub, and rose water feminine mist. My products solve any issues with pH balance, yeast infections, odor, bacteria, and ingrown hair.
I think what mostly sets me apart from others is the fact that I have a personal story and a message behind my brand. Almost 2 years again I had a ruptured fallopian tube, and the doctors saved my life. My husband and I were trying for a baby, and we were afraid that we wouldn’t be able to conceive. So, I used my products to help keep myself healthy and within a couple of months we were pregnant again with our rainbow baby and the abnormal cells on my cervix cleared.
I am proud of my story most with my business and how it encourages potential clients to try my products and see a change in their feminine care routine. I know that my products have the ability to change lives and many of my customers can’t go without them. That’s what makes me so proud.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was fear. The fear of success and being afraid to invest in myself. I has to learn that if I don’t believe or invest in myself, why would anyone else. Your customers can’t be confident in their purchases with you if you aren’t confident in yourself. I had to unlearn negative thoughts and processes that wouldn’t help me succeed in my business. The shift in your dreams comes only once you’ve aligned yourself.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Vivid greatly affected my efforts in businesses. I felt like I continuously each year, started from ground 0. I was to the point where I wanted to give up on my business. It wasn’t until many of my customers reached out in support and inquiring about restocks that I understood how important it was for me to keep going. A well known life coach once said he never knew his purpose until he “didn’t want to do it” he didn’t want to be of service to others but God called him to it so he had to. I feel like women’s health is my calling and I am a servant who continues to be resilient to change the lives of women just like me. I am the sacred place for women and feminity.
