We recently connected with Keara Jewel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Keara , thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
This is a tough question. I used to always think about the “what ifs”? What if i had started younger or when the idea first hit me? But i came to realize that everything happens at the right moment and i have so much knowledge and wisdom now that i can fully comprehend this career path. I started modeling this year and i have already been casted into winston salem fashion show and i have modeled for the Carolina Fashion Awards. My acting journey began last year when i was cast into a Carrie musical and i got the role of Erin in the webseries Struggle’s Of A Pretty Girl. I am glad i started at the time i did because i have learned to discipline myself.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a freelance model and actress. I have always wanted to model but i didn’t know where to start. Thankfully the the support of my community i have reached out and started working with pinning photographers. Learning how to act is an ongoing process for me. I started taking classes last year and i am thankful to have taken on the roles that have been presented to me. I would love to star in a horror film or a dramatic film.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I belive if we actually come together to support talent espically local talent, then things can improve. Espically when it comes to finances. Implementing grants and even more internships can help younger talent that has creative dreams but little income.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have seen many disparaging comments about models and actors. Whether it is about age, race or location. It seems there is little support for black creatives. But i have changed my limiting beliefs and pushed myself to be better than the naysayers
