Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keara Hunter . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Keara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
It seems crazy looking back because I would have never dreamed of my Real Estate Career growing the way it has. March 2018, my friend Holiday called me to tell me about her new real estate journey with Keller Williams plus my husband, dad and brother in law always encouraged me to do it. July 9th, 2018 we officially moved to Alabama into our temporary housing while our house was being built. That same day, I started taking Real Estate Classes as a 8 month pregnant mom of a busy 2 year old boy while discovering the Eastern Shore of Alabama and how incredible it really is. That summer I started interviewing with different real estate companies, everyone kept telling me that I’ll know where I belong. After leaving my Keller Williams interview with Liz Trump, I knew. August 23rd we had our precious baby Brynn via c-section with 2 weeks left to go of my real estate class, the final exam and state exam close after. While recovering from a c section, building a house, nursing a new baby, having a busy 2 year old running around I realized that I needed help bc I only wanted to take the state test 1 time and pass. That’s when Kristen Ganey stepped in as our night nurse so I could actually get a close to full nights sleep to retain the info that I was studying for the state test. Test day came, I pumped on the way there, took the test, paced in the waiting area to hear…YOU PASSED! I started bawling, hugged the guy, ran back to my car to pump then home to my babies.
I went inactive with my license for a couple of months so I could be with my baby and we could finalize the dream house we were building.
Dec 2018 I called my Broker Liz and said that I’m ready to join but I didn’t really want to do anything until I was finished nursing bc this was our last baby. Fast forward April 2019 I was ready to get started. After being in the office here and there going to trainings over the past few months I was able to see who the hot shots were and I hand picked my mentor, Sarah Turner, who completely changed my life. I told Sarah that I only wanted to sell 1-2 houses a year just in my neighborhood bc I was so busy with my kids. Well, little did I know that god had other plans for me and I FELL IN LOVE with this career and my clients.
2019 I was a new agent and closed 8 homes and I had an assistant.
2020 my business was growing so fast that I hired a marketing director and established The Keara Hunter Real Estate Team with my 1st Buyers agent.
2021 We kept growing with another buyers agent added and we reached over $36M in sales
2022 exploded again with over $35M in sales
Thank you to my husband for allowing me to work as much as I do without giving me too much grief 🤪🏡💖. It’s not always easy on my family with how much I work but we plan trips in advavce and I am present for them. Or try to be 🙈
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am extremely disciplined with my time and my schedule. I’m up no later than 5am Monday -Friday unless I’m on vacation or sick. I expect a lot of myself and those around me to do the best you can do every day. I get up so early bc it’s my only quiet time during the day where I can focus and set up my day so my day doesn’t run me. I’m proactive enough Monday-Friday 5a-4:15p that I can be reactive on nights and weekends.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Always doing the right thing, im not perfect but if I make a mistake, I’ll work 20x harder to make it right. I answer my phone, respond to messages in a timely matter and am extremely proactive.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I hired a marketing director early on which literally put The Keara Hunter Real Estate Team on the map. I trust her, once I give her the content she takes over from there. I’m a people person not a marketing content person…best advise is hire someone better than you are to do the things that need to get done to grow the brand.
