We recently connected with Keara Adgar and have shared our conversation below.
Keara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
If I could go back in time, I honestly wouldn’t change when I started my business. I launched Savvy Sugarista three years ago, and even now, I still believe the timing was perfect. Before starting my business, I went through a lot of trials in the esthetics industry — jobs that motivated me, humbled me, frustrated me, and taught me exactly what kind of professional I did and didn’t want to be. At the time it felt challenging, but looking back, those seasons shaped my work ethic, my standards, and the way I serve people today.
I’m a strong believer that everything happens in God’s timing. If I had started any earlier, I wouldn’t have had the confidence, skill, or clarity that I have now. I needed those hard experiences to mature me, to sharpen me, and to prepare me to run a business with intention. And if I had waited any longer, I might not have been bold enough to take the leap. God placed me in the right place at the right time, even when I didn’t realize it

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Keara, and I’m the owner of Savvy Sugarista, a sugaring studio built on comfort, education, and confidence. I’ve been in the esthetics industry for almost a decade, and when I started I swore I would be doing facials. My first day at my first sugaring job I had no idea what I applied for, so I was shocked to say the least.
I fell in love with sugaring because it’s an art! It’s gentle, clean, and truly focused on skin health, something that matters deeply to me.
What sets me apart is the environment I create. My studio is a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel seen, respected, and comfortable. I take time to explain the process, answer questions, and make sure everyone leaves feeling confident and cared for never rushed.
I’m most proud of the community. Many clients have been with me through major life seasons, and their trust means everything to me. If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that Savvy Sugarista isn’t just a waxing studio it’s a place where women can relax, feel supported, and fall in love with their skin again.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A moment that truly showed my resilience was when I experienced the loss of my baby. It was the darkest season of my life, and for a while, I genuinely considered closing my business. I didn’t feel like myself, and I didn’t know if I had anything left to give.
But slowly, with faith and support, I found strength again. Returning to Savvy Sugarista became part of my healing. Instead of shutting down, I poured my love into my clients and they poured so much love back into me, and my business. That became a reminder that I could rebuild after heartbreak. That season showed me that resilience isn’t about being strong all the time it’s about choosing to keep going when your whole world shifts.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me is typically word-of-mouth! A lot of my clients tell their friends and their siblings and they become my regulars! Social media obviously has a huge impact as well, but I feel like I’ve had more word-of-mouth clients than anything!
