We recently connected with Keambra Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Keambra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I am happier as a creative . I haven’t had the thought of working a 9-5 in about a year or two . When the pandemic hit and work started slowing down as far as modeling and events you couldn’t help but to have that thought . We were in a recession and no one could leave their homes or at least no one wanted to leave their homes because at the time it was dangerous. Not knowing all along that it was a blessing in disguise . I flourished more than I ever have , put together more events , helped the youth and connected with more likeminded individuals through social media . No one had a choice but to listen because outside was almost non existent . This taught me that artists and creatives were very important to our society . This was a takeover time for us !

Keambra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is Keambra Wilson and I am a model, mogul , mentor , a mom , a influencer .. all of the above . I’ve always loved taking pictures , so I said why not try getting into different settings and on different runways . Since I’ve gotten into this industry I’ve worked with multiple artists such as Moneybagg Yo, T-Pain, Gucci Mane, Durk, Latto , Jacquees etc . I have a mentor program where I help women get into modeling , get in touch with their inner selves and help build their self confidence . I also have a non profit organization called I Am You where I help single mothers find resources to help them flourish in life . What sets me apart from others is that I genuinely want to see other women win , I want to bring them up with me and not look down like I’m better than them . I want every women to feel like she can conquer the world and that she’s capable of excelling at any career path she chooses in life .
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by just being my authentic self , networking and putting myself in rooms with other business people . If you start by being the person that you are , you won’t have to change to fit the dynamics of what’s trending on social media or what ppl want you to be . People love to feel like that they’ve been on your journey with you , and they love to see your personal growth . If you start off by being someone that you’re not , once that façade is over it’ll be hard for your followers to adjust , so always be you .

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The Secret To Success Podcast by Eric Thomas and Woman Evolve By Sarah Jakes Roberts are two of the most impactful podcasts that has helped me along my journey. It makes you think deeper than what’s surface level or what most people talk about on the daily . So if you’re not in rooms with these type of people it gives you a chance to actually tap into that from your home . And once you analyze and your thinking starts to change then you can change the conversations in the rooms that you’re in . Now those rooms are elevated because you’ve poured into yourself and now you’re pouring into others .
