We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kazuha Oda. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kazuha below.
Hi Kazuha, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I started singing and creating music professionally at an early age and it probably took me about 5 years to earn a full-time living. I had to invest so much of my time and money in the beginning but I am going to do the same (or similar) for the rest of my career because it allows me to do what I want to do. I’ve been signed to labels here and there through my journey until now but being my own boss feels the best so far. I don’t really believe in the shortcuts so I have no regrets in the time and process I took. There may be some major steps here and there but I don’t recognize them as much probably because I am evolving day by day.

Kazuha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was classically trained (soprano vocal). Started out as a solo singer/songwriter in Japan but one of my dreams was to be a Rock Singer who tours internationally… so I started my own rock band called Kazha in 2009 with a friend: Rock Guitarist Hideki Matsushige. We write music together so our sound combines classic, pop, rock, and I believe that may be the reason of why our followers/fans are in all kinds of generations. I mainly sing about people’s life and feelings: love, happiness, sadness, anxiety, anger etc.. and many of our listers have told us that my songs have helped their anxiety or prevented many of them from suicidal thoughts. Hideki and I are actually both struggling with rare diseases and anxiety from them, and we both know that the life can be pretty difficult sometimes. We are devoted to keep delivering the positive energy to the audience through our music and wish to make them happy or make their day a little better.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, most rewarding aspect of being an artist is that people get to know me through something I created. And my fans meet other fans at the show and I can feel that my music is actually building a community.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Be active and interact with followers are probably the most important things to build audience on social media. I am still on the process of building some of my social medias but I believe that the one (facebook) I am most active on grew the fastest.
