We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaz Langness a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kaz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
It is always a risk telling opening your mouth, because once you do..you tell the world who you are. A risk that can lead to criticism from others, having judgment being handed your way, & even being misunderstood by others of this world..the list can go on. Without taking a risk, that means we are not trusting God, the one who has placed us here on this earth for specific reasons. We fail to remember that without risk, there is no story.
As a speaker, dispersing words into the universe is something of inevitably. I am nothing without my words that God has been able to place on my tongue to give to the world. At times, it is of risk, although I know my purpose on this earth is to tell my story to help others take that risk and to have the faith to share theirs.
Taking the risk of being a speaker, I allowed myself to have faith and trust in God to know that his plan is far better than my plan..seeing that whenever I relied on my own strength, it ultimately led to self destruction. Taking the risk has changed my life for the better, seeing that I am living in my purpose and I am able to have a positive impact for my time that God has placed me here in this world. It has allowed me to connect with others to encourage them, and be a light for Christ
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
As a child, I was born into adversity. Being raised by a single mother who struggled with substance abuse, doing what she could with what she had to provide for me to the best of her abilities. Her struggles ultimately led to me being put into foster care due to child neglect at the age of 7, which led to me being adopted at age 10. To those that do not believe in miracles, I am one. Surviving an attempted self induced miscarriage by drug and alcohol abuse and then 10 years later, with only an 18% chance that kids between the ages of 10-12, I became one to beat those odds. The God that I serve is great. Without him, I am nothing and would not be here with you today.
My story is what leads to me being called to fulfill my God given purpose for my time here on earth. As one who has faced adversity since the time I was conceived in the womb, I know that I am not the only one. Life is never about what we can get, therefore, give as much as you can. Giving is the driving force behind my passion..knowing that there is always someone out there to give love, encouragement, hope, and be a source of light to. Knowing that in my own personal life, I have felt the hand of God guide me and provide for me, knowing that he sent his ONLY son to die for me..it is in my best interest to give back his love to others on this earth.
Love one another, Trust God, be of encouragement and be a light in this world that we are all living in.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout my journey, I have had to face a variety of obstacles. One that stands out the most is the storm I have had to go through of being homeless and having little to zero funds. While I could have given up, I knew that through that storm, It would not last forever and that having my trust in God..he was allowing me to be placed in a situation to prepare me for something of significance. Through that storm, I was able to host my first Charity Event, which I am so very grateful for. Allowing me to find strength in vulnerability which led to me reaching out to my community and family/friends for help to allow the event to take place. I knew that through the storm, I must stay resilient and not give up when the world is trying to knock me down and out. When we leave the storm, we won’t be the same person that enters the storm. That is the purpose of the storm, to make us stronger in areas we need to grow in our understanding of life. It is up to us on how we respond to life, storms are inevitable..continue to grow amidst life’s chaos.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to impact the world in a loving way and leave a lasting impact on the next generation. Knowing that Christ was on this earth for 33 years and faced trials of many kinds and still to this day, he is talked about..even after being nailed on the cross for being the most misunderstood human to walk this earth. I know that this journey will not always be easy, although being able to see how Christ stood strong through others dispising him, I know he will give me strength to continue carrying on through my time here on earth to help me be of inspiration to the next generation. In a world where money is driving others lives, ultimately Love is the driving force of the world. We must not fail to remember that.
