We were lucky to catch up with Kaytie Keck recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kaytie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’m proud to be able to gift 10% of profit to various organizations such as Warrior Women Project, Stop AAI Hate, Black Women’s March, and Marsha P Johnson Institute. I work with indigenous suppliers for my beads used.
This job allows me to be creative and to give back to communities. Which is why shopping small is pertinent.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Dangly Ones was named after my favorite movie Home Alone. I’ve always had a soft spot for that cranky old man in the airport.
These are handmade creations that are meant to make you feel cute and smile. Every piece unique & slightly flawed- just like us. I created this brand to have fun with my passion for crafts and to share that joy with you!
Dangly Ones was born in quarantine from drinking lots of wine (and talking to my plants) while making lots of “cottage core” friends online. Like many in the restaurant/bar industry, I lost my job when the pandemic broke. Shortly into the lockdown, I found myself making a bunch of clay gifts for people and with the encouragement from beloved friends, Dangly Ones was created in April 2020.
Aside from helping me to keep the lights on, I use Dangly Ones to help raise money for various charities such as BlackWomensMovement.org, The Trevor Project, #HATEISAVIRUS, Marsha P. Johnson Project, and others.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
It’s so simple to share, share, share. We all know that certain social media platforms change their algorithms and such, but the easiest way is to talk with friends, share online, and if you were able to buy something for a small business – then post about them.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I LOVE being a part of people’s celebrations! I would obviously love to be able to do this more than part time, but making pieces that will be a part of people’s weddings, parties, etc. is so so rewarding. It keeps me going when I get messages from people about how much they love their new pieces.
