We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaysha Galbreath. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaysha below.
Kaysha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Sooner, I have had a passion for photography since I was a teenager. I used to take photos for family and friends a long time ago. Then I found out I was pregnant, so I decided to put my camera down to raise my children. I recently picked my camera back up last September because I needed to make extra money to be able to support my family. Ever since then it has grown in ways I couldn’t image. I have been to Texas to work with an event photographer to take pictures at the American Paint Horse Association World Championship. I have started doing more local events to help get my name out there. Alot of the locals don’t know that I photography. I offer free giveaways to also help. It has been a long road to get to where I am at today. My hopes are that my passion turns into a full-time job.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I offer photo sessions, and I do weddings and other events. I had one of my clients forget her earrings and on her way to the shoot she called me, and I stopped in a local shop and got her some. I am a very outgoing person and love to try new ideas. I love when a client calls me wanting to try something new. I am proud of myself for putting in the work to hopefully make my passion grow into a business.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes, when I started my photography back up, I needed to make some extra money to be able to pay bills so on a whim I decided to give my photography another chance to see if I would be able to make some extra money. It has helped me be able provide for my family and help further my dreams. I have went from only taking pictures of just equine events at church to so much more.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Facebook and word of mouth.
