Kaysan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a significant number of deaths worldwide due to several contributing factors. Certain groups, such as older adults, individuals with underlying health conditions (such as respiratory, cardiovascular, or immunocompromising conditions), and those with weakened immune systems, were at a higher risk of severe illness and complications. With obesity being the core of many chronic diseases, I was inspired to help people manage their health problems and lower their risk factors through weight loss; which lowers blood pressure, lowers blood sugar and risk factors for diabetes, lowers risk for heart disease, lowers high cholesterol and risk for heart attacks and strokes and other serious health problems.
Armed with a vision and an unwavering determination, I began the journey of establishing my own practice. The first step was conducting thorough research to understand the weight loss industry inside out. I studied different weight loss methods, the latest scientific findings, and successful case studies to build a foundation of knowledge upon which my practice is based.
I enrolled in courses and attended seminars to enhance my knowledge. It was essential to possess the expertise to guide clients effectively on their weight loss journey and address their unique needs. I proud myself on providing a holistic approach to weight loss; by selecting a weight loss plan specific to their needs, combined with personalized nutrition plans, exercise routines, and emotional support to empower clients to achieve sustainable results.
One of the key challenge I faced while establishing my practice, was building a client base from scratch. I was skeptical about leaving the hospital with a large number of guaranteed sick patients and going into a world of uncertainty and focusing on prevention which is better than cure. It’s harder getting people to invest in their own health instead of paying for their sickness. So I started by reaching out to friends, family, and acquaintances, offering my weight loss services at discounted rates initially to gain trust and credibility. Word-of-mouth recommendations played a crucial role in attracting new clients. The good news quickly spread via several individuals who had amazing experience and results and was happy to share their success stories with others which led to an influx of new clients. I also utilized digital marketing strategies, such as social media platforms and a professional website, to expand my reach and connect with a broader audience.
Despite the challenges, my passion and dedication fueled my journey. Helping people to achieve their goals of health and wellness through weight loss is a hobby and not a job to me. Since inception, my weight loss practice has been flourishing, transforming the lives of countless individuals who found hope, support, and transformation within the walls of our Wellness Center. My dream of helping others achieve their weight loss goals had become a reality, and my practice became a beacon of inspiration in the community.
