We were lucky to catch up with Kayra Touré recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kayra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to always see the bigger picture. A risk that I embraced was pursuing a career in modeling. Initially, the question was how far I wanted to take it. Modeling captivated me because of my natural ease with posing and being in front of the camera. Recognizing my potential, and encouraged by others who saw it too, has been instrumental in shaping my journey.

Through networking, attending casting calls, and creating inspiring content, numerous opportunities have opened up for me. Since taking this leap, I’ve collaborated with diverse brands in fashion, fitness, beauty, and swimwear. I’ve also had the privilege to work with fellow creatives and feature in multiple music videos.

If I were to disclose my past shyness to someone now, they might find it hard to believe, given how confidently I now carry myself. However, this transformation wasn’t immediate; it came through consistent positive affirmations and envisioning my higher self.

My name is Kayra Touré and I work in the fashion and beauty industry. From an early age, I’ve been drawn to the art of conceptualizing and bringing ideas to life. Working intimately with brands, I bring a blend of authenticity and allure to their campaigns, aiming to deepen their connection with audiences while elevating their visibility. As a model, I take pride in infusing creativity and professionalism into every assignment. Whether it’s capturing diverse concepts through photography or video, my goal is to collaborate closely with brands to authentically showcase their stories, products, and messages. I am most proud of my ability to consistently innovate and inspire through my work and connect with others in meaningful ways through my artistic vision.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of what I do is the ability to inspire confidence and influence others. For me it’s about having the opportunity to create meaningful connections with people, through captivating imagery and concepts. The ability to collaborate with diverse people and brands, adds a layer of fulfillment because it allows me to influence trends and showcase products in a way that resonates deeply with people. Ultimately, being a model means using my platform to empower others, celebrate diversity, and leave a positive impact on the fashion and beauty industry.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

A particular book that has significantly impacted my way of thinking is The Law of Attraction, by Abraham Hicks. This book suggests that like attracts like, meaning that positive thoughts and intentions can bring positive experiences and outcomes into one’s life, while negative thoughts can bring negative outcomes. This book has encouraged me to take responsibility for my thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, recognizing my role in creating my reality and actively shaping my experiences.
