Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kayo Zhang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kayo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey into the world of tech storytelling began with a simple yet profound realization – that behind every groundbreaking innovation, there are countless human stories waiting to be told. As a filmmaker and a proud member of the Asian diaspora, I’ve always been drawn to narratives that bridge cultural divides and shed light on our shared experiences.
When I first started working with tech and finance companies, I was struck by how often the human element was overshadowed by technical jargon and product specs. I knew there was a better way – a way to showcase the incredible creativity, passion, and perseverance that drives these advancements.
That’s when I began developing my unique approach to creative storytelling, one that blends the emotive power of cinema with the cutting-edge world of innovation. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some incredible brands along the way, from startups to industry giants like JPM Chase and Microsoft.
With each project, my goal is to create campaigns that not only showcase the technical marvels behind these products but also tap into the universal human stories that make them so impactful. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this space.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
When I really think about what drives me as a storyteller, it all boils down to one simple yet powerful idea – telling stories that matter – same as the philosophy of my current agency. I’ve always been drawn to narratives that have the power to move people, to make them see the world in a different light, and to inspire them to be their best selves.
As someone who’s navigated as a first-generation Asian in America, I know firsthand how important it is to see your experiences reflected in the stories around you. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to amplify voices and perspectives that often go unheard, whether it’s through my personal film projects or my work in the tech industry.
When I collaborate with brands, my goal is to go beyond the flashy product demos and really dig into the human stories behind the innovations. I want to showcase the incredible creativity, resilience, and passion of the people driving these technological advancements, and in doing so, create a more inclusive and relatable vision of the future.
At the end of the day, I believe that storytelling has the power to change hearts and minds, to break down barriers, and to bring people together. And that’s what I’m all about – using my skills and my passion to make a positive impact, one authentic, meaningful story at a time.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There are so many things I love about being a creative storyteller, but if I had to pick just one, it would be those moments when I see my work truly resonating with someone on a deep, personal level.
There’s just something magical about witnessing that spark of recognition in someone’s eyes as they see their own experiences and emotions reflected back at them through a story I’ve helped bring to life.
At the end of the day, that’s what storytelling is all about – forging connections, fostering empathy, and helping people feel seen, heard, and understood. And when I’m able to achieve that, even just for one person, it’s a very rewarding feeling.
while the journey of a creative can certainly be challenging at times, it’s those moments of deep, meaningful connection that make it all worth it.
