We were lucky to catch up with Kaylyn Rogers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kaylyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I am definitely happier as a business owner. I would not change my career path. I have always had a passion to help others. Previously I worked in property management. I excelled in my position however I tended to grow bored easily. I reached the top job title, and pay. I weighed the beinifits of my job against being a business owner and I decided it was more important to me to spend my time building a business than just being a good employee.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I chose cleaning as my business for many reasons. It is inexpensive and I could easily have clients as it is a necessity for most business and homes. I found myself working 40-50 hours a week with a family to care for and no time to to keep my space comfortable. It has helped others reduce stress, boost their mood, spend more quality family time, and for myself the small but huge relief from clients after the job is completed. We offer a variety of services from residential to commercial to boats and rv’s. Each clients expectations met differently and efficiently. Cleanliness in my clients homes promote mental clairty and that in itself is my ultimate satisfaction.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategies for growing clientele for myself have been quality of work, costumer service, communicating with clients often to assure I am meeting their needs.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A few times a year I offer free cleanings to those whom can not afford it, or suffer with mental illnesess, or elderly. Those cleanings mean the most to me. To be able to help others in areas in their life they cannot at that time is rewarding. Its one thing to have satisfaction from cleaning your own home but for a stranger, shows helping others rewards everyone involved. Having a clean home feels good in itself. Having your home tidy makes lifes stressors seem more manageable.
