Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaylee Emmons. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaylee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
My business started with just a small little Instagram account made in July 2021. I had recently learned Reiki and wanted to share my knowledge and services with the world. I remember thinking to myself, if I could reach just a few people, I’ll be happy. At first, I had a lot of friends and family supporting me and liking my posts and buying jewelry that I started making. Eventually, my account & business started to grow, and I had others asking for custom jewelry, to book Reiki Healings, and more. In September 2021, I decided to do my first holistic healing event, to meet more people in person. I set up a tent with a table of my creations and a table for Reiki Healings, and my life changed forever. I started offering Reiki consistently at events and my practice began to soar. People loved the sessions and the jewelry and I was helping more people than I could’ve ever imagined. Eventually I found a few private spaces to rent out when I wasn’t doing events. I started offering more Private Healings and started teaching my own Reiki students after becoming a Reiki Master Teacher. And now those students have their own practices as well! In 2022 I left my last day job & decided to peruse Kaylee’s Karma full time. I still do events, online sales, and rent out a few local spaces. It’s definitely a challenge without a storefront, but it’s also fun traveling and reaching new people! This journey has been one of the hardest, yet most fulfilling things I’ve ever done in my life. If I could give any piece of advice for anyone looking to start their own Reiki Practice, it would be to follow your heart. It’s going to be hard and uncomfortable at times, but that’s how you know you’re growing!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always been a sensitive, creative, and free spirit with the urge to help others. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, but when I discovered Reiki, it all started to become clear to me!
I’m now a 25 year old Reiki Master Teacher and I provide Reiki Healings, Reiki Classes, and Handmade Reiki Charged Crystal Healing Jewelry to all who need it!
My number one priority in my practice is to create a safe, authentic healing space for anyone who needs it.
What sets me apart from a lot of Reiki Master Teachers is that I’m authentically down to Earth. I don’t put myself or my spiritual practice on a pedestal. I don’t put on an act or a show of “love and light.” When I show up to your session, or your class, or you see me at an event, I am just simply me. I’ve embraced my most authentic, most human self within this spiritual journey. And I’m far from perfect, so why should I pretend to be?! I show up with authenticity so my clients and students can too. I validate your feelings with compassion and understanding, never dismissal or judgement, and help you understand the energy within and around you more. I pride myself provide a safe space for you to truly come home to yourself and feel unconditional love!

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
To truly succeed in this work, it has to be coming from the heart. You have to truly love what you do and the people you’re servicing and teaching, because your clients and students will feel it.
You can’t be in this field of work for the money, or for the ego boost, because your clients and students will also feel that!
You also have to practice what you preach, and make sure you continue to heal yourself just as much as you’re healing others. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so how do you expect your clients or students to learn from you if you’re not practicing what you’re sharing?!
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back, I would absolutely chose this same profession. Maybe I would go back and start even sooner!
