We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kayland Lamar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayland, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As a faith-based personal development coach, my mission is to empower individuals to show up as the most authentic version of themselves by embracing radical self-care, cultivating healthy habits, and designing sustainable systems that align with their God-given purpose. Rooted in faith, I guide clients to deepen their spiritual connection, break through barriers, and create lives that reflect both their values and divine calling. Through biblical principles, practical strategies, and unwavering support, I help individuals prioritize their well-being, strengthen their faith, and step confidently into the life God has designed for them.
The mission of Kayland Lamar, LLC., is deeply personal to me because I know firsthand the transformative power of faith, self-care, and intentional living. There was a time in my own journey when I felt disconnected—from myself, my purpose, and even my faith. I was caught in the cycle of overextending, people-pleasing, and striving for success in ways that left me drained and unfulfilled. It wasn’t until I surrendered to God’s plan, prioritized my well-being, and built sustainable habits that I finally felt aligned, whole, and truly alive.
Through that experience, I realized that so many people are struggling in similar ways—feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure how to live authentically while honoring both their spiritual and personal needs. I founded my coaching and consulting firm because I believe that God has designed each of us with a unique purpose, and when we care for ourselves well, we can step into that calling with clarity, confidence, and strength.
This mission matters because it’s about more than just productivity or personal growth—it’s about living in alignment with who God created us to be. I am dedicated to guiding others in building a life where faith, self-care, and intentional habits serve as the foundation for profound and lasting transformation. Seeing my clients break free from limiting beliefs, deepen their spiritual walk, and build lives that truly serve them is what fuels my passion every day.

Kayland, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Kayland Lamar, a faith-based personal development coach dedicated to helping individuals show up as the most authentic version of themselves by embracing radical self-care, building healthy habits, and creating sustainable systems that align with their God-given purpose. My journey into this work was a calling born out of my own personal transformation.
There was a time in my life when I felt completely disconnected—overwhelmed by responsibilities, struggling to prioritize my well-being, and uncertain about what my next would look like. I saw so many people around me experiencing the same thing—exhaustion, burnout, and a deep longing for a life that truly felt fulfilling. Through my own healing journey, I learned that when we care for ourselves in a way that honors who God created us to be, everything changes. We gain clarity, confidence, and the strength to walk boldly in our purpose.
That realization led me to launch my coaching practice, where I help others break free from cycles of stress, self-neglect, and overwhelm. I guide my clients in deepening their faith, prioritizing their well-being, and implementing practical strategies that create real, sustainable change. Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, my private Facebook group, and my podcast, I empower individuals to build lives that are not just successful, but deeply fulfilling and aligned with their values.
What makes my approach unique is the integration of faith with personal development. Many people focus on either spiritual growth or personal habits, but I believe the two are deeply connected. My coaching isn’t just about setting goals or improving productivity—it’s about aligning your entire life with God’s purpose for you. I provide an approach that nurtures every part of you, ensuring that transformation is not just temporary but truly lasting.
I also emphasize radical self-care, which is more than just pampering yourself—it’s about creating habits, boundaries, and systems that allow you to thrive. Many high achievers and people of faith struggle with guilt when it comes to self-care, but I help my clients see that prioritizing their well-being is not selfish—it’s necessary for them to fully step into their purpose. One of my mottos is, “If you don’t take care of yourself, no one will,” and I wholeheartedly believe that. We must prioritize our well-being so we can fully step into the calling God has placed on our lives.
I am most proud of the breakthroughs my clients experience—the moments when they finally feel at peace, confident in their identity, and excited about their next. Watching someone go from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to living with joy, clarity, and purpose is what drives me every day.
I’m also proud of the growing community of like-minded individuals who are embracing faith-driven personal growth, especially. those that are part of my private Facebook community, PursueU. Seeing people step boldly into who God created them to be and witnessing the ripple effect of their transformation is incredibly rewarding.
If you’re feeling stuck, burnt out, or unsure how to align your life with your faith and purpose, know that you’re not alone—and transformation is possible. You don’t have to sacrifice yourself to be successful, and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I’m here to guide and support you on your journey to becoming the most authentic, aligned, and empowered version of yourself. You deserve to lead a life you love.
Your faith, your well-being, and your purpose are all connected. When you nurture them intentionally, you don’t just grow—you thrive.
If you’re ready to step into a life that truly serves you, I’d love to walk alongside you on that journey.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a small business owner and creative, I have learned so much about myself throughout this journey. While “progress over perfection” is a mindset shift that I often share with my clients, this is also a mindset shift that I had to make as an entrepreneur and business owner. As a coach, I have had to keep this is in mind because it creates room for creativity, adaptability, and a more positive entrepreneurial space.
The thing about being a high achiever, is that we hold ourselves to very high standards. This can sometimes cause us to set unrealistic goals and put an unprecedented amount of pressure on us. For me, unlearning perfectionism was one of the biggest challenges. I had to realize that perfection is not the goal—growth is. In the early stages of my business, I felt like everything had to be flawless before I could put it out into the world. Whether it was launching a new program, recording a podcast episode, or even posting in my PursueU Facebook community, I would overanalyze every detail, fearing that it wasn’t “good enough.”
But that mindset was holding me back more than it was helping me. The pressure to be perfect slowed my progress and, at times, even kept me from moving forward at all. I had to learn that done is better than perfect and that progress happens when we take action, even if it’s messy.
Once I embraced this, everything shifted. I became more creative, more adaptable, and more open to learning along the way. I now remind myself—and my clients—that growth requires stepping out in faith, even when things aren’t perfectly polished. When we release the pressure of perfection, we create space for true transformation.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Early in my journey as a personal development coach and entrepreneur, I faced a season of intense self-doubt and uncertainty. The fact that I shifted my focus from mainly working with teachers to a broader audience was a push for me. I had stepped out in faith, knowing that God had called me to this work, but the reality of building a business felt overwhelming. There were moments when I questioned whether I was truly equipped for this path, and I even considered changing my mind.
One particular challenge came when I launched my private Facebook group and my podcast. I poured my heart into these platforms, but in the beginning, engagement was slow, and growth wasn’t happening as quickly as I had hoped. I started to wonder if I was really making an impact. Was I really reaching the people God had called me to serve?
In that moment, I had to lean into my own coaching principles. I reminded myself that the bible says that obedience is better than sacrifice. I chose to keep showing up, even when it felt like no one was watching. I trusted that consistency, faith, and alignment with my purpose would eventually bear fruit.
And it did. Slowly but surely, the right people started engaging. I began receiving messages from individuals who felt seen, encouraged, and transformed by my work. I began to receive more opportunities to share my expertise and PursueU became a thriving community of like-minded individuals pursuing their most authentic, faith-driven lives.
That season taught me that resilience isn’t about never facing doubt—it’s about pushing through it with faith, trust, and unwavering commitment to the vision God has placed in your heart. Now, I carry that lesson with me daily and share it with my clients as they navigate their own journeys of growth and purpose.
