We recently connected with Kaylah Louiny and have shared our conversation below.
Kaylah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A defining moment in my life would definitely have to be the moment I made a conscious decision to live in Truth. This is not an easy thing to do especially when it requires you to uproot old mindsets and allow God to guide and order your steps. After I came to that realization, my life took a complete turn for the better. Little did I know, the greatest lesson was embedded within my ability to be vulnerable.

Kaylah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The unique thing about my brand is that my vulnerability & authenticity is the brand. My will to change and desire to learn is the gateway to my brand and success. I truly believe that my purpose is tied to my ability to be authentic and open about my life/experiences. Being the role model I sought for in my youth is something that is inspiring not only to others but to myself as well. I live this life led by God and allow him to bring inspiration to my community. My passion for mental health also adds a layer to my authenticity. This life was never promised to be easy and I am motivated to show the raw, the real feelings that accompany it. I am not perfect and I’ve grown to understand that there is power in my weakness. Because I am a follower of Christ, this means everything to me because it gives me room to believe that the experiences I had were not to break me but rather to build & mold me for my purpose. I created TheOutletTalk as a channel really for my personal experiences as a goal to be vulnerable and authentic but as I delved into that, I realized that it was a great way to reach an audience. There are no linear experiences in life and I find healing in confronting them and bringing them to the outlet.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
” Emotions are weak.” This my friends is a lie. Growing up in a Caribbean household, there is no room for emotions. You are raised to survive not to live. You are reminded that you are here to work hard and push through tough times ( which is not a bad ideology, it just cannot serve you for your whole life). You are not given the tools to work through the inner turmoil that begins in your adolescent years. With all that background, it took me a long time to realize that my power as a human being lied in my ability to be weak, to shed some tears, and to be honest/open about my feelings. Shortly after this realization, I felt inclined to share it with the world and felt guided by God to do so. The art of surrendering gave me the ultimate experience in my faith and pushed me even closer to my divine purpose.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
yes, I am a die-hard fan of psychology and would not change that for anything. Studying psychology was the beginning of an awakening journey for me. It led me straight to emotional healing as well as my calling.
