Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaylah Casuccio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kaylah, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I have been on every social media platform since MySpace days. I began taking social media seriously over a decade ago starting with YouTube. As social media continues to elevate and expand; a lot of people have fixated on perfectionism. Most believe that success is deemed by how well you look doing something. That is a false reality. I believe in transparency, showing the ugly, and being genuine on my social media platforms to relate to people. I strive to remain authentic for people to see that true growth and success all began with failure at one point. Life is about trial and error.
Kaylah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 26 year old Columbus, OH native. I am a mother first above all else. I have been in the social media industry for more than 10 years as an influencer that eventually evolved into becoming a business woman. I’ve been involved in network marketing, digital marketing, and all of these opportunities contributed to my confidence to execute a graphic design business as well. I am most proud of the interpersonal relationships I have built with my audience. They are truly family that have grown with us. They have seen me at my worst to understand my best. I love when people open up and feel safe to speak with me, ask for advice, and also share their personal growth/success.
We truly created a brand and appearance over the years that did not exist when I first started taking the online world seriously.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe being authentic and saying things most won’t and doing things others usually would not is how I’ve not only climbed with numbers but also with building relationships. We are living in a world where people purchase or interact with people they can trust. We are not looking at pretty packaging or the physicality of things anymore. We are more in depth and intentional that requires brands to showcase who they are behind a screen.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
We are taught in this industry to relay on feedback from others. Over the years, I have come to the realization that this method can kill opportunity to grow. Constructive criticism will always be valued and being receptive towards one’s opinion. But, I believe that taking things to heart can tank what you are building towards. You have to live unapologetically and believe that your outlook determines your outcome.
Personally, I was very sensitive before becoming a mom. Anything anyone said to me or about me would eat at me. I had to fix my mindset and believe that people will either be one of two things when it comes to you; inspired or intimidated. Success comes with a lot of backlash and we cannot focus on the hate. When you shift your lens on the positive, nothing else matters. It’s almost like responding to one poor review or comment when you have numerous positive ones. Put all of the energy into those that believe in you instead of the ones that don’t.
