We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kayla Zhanellé a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kayla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Back in 2017 I started my entrepreneur journey and I never limited myself to just one business. The Multi Hustle Brand ™️ came from me being the 1 face behind so many different hustles. Nails, graphic design, natural skin care, creative directing/styling, and modeling just to name a few.
The goal was to have multiple streams of income, and once I noticed that was a common goal of those around me the brand came to life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
At only 25 years old I can say that my journey has been rocky but perfect at the same time. I was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia so I am very familiar with the grind and how fast pace things can be. What motivates me the most is knowing that I’m inspiring other people to be better than what they are or to do better than what they’re doing.
A lot of people witnessed some of my most challenging moments and even till this day they applaud me for handling it with grace and professionalism. But through that challenging time I was able to find myself, work on myself, and make the investments needed to be where I am today.
The Multi Hustle Brand ™️ was made for every multi hustler out here building and working hard on their empire. I made this brand because just like myself I see so many men and women building multiple brands while working, in school, or just dealing with life period. And I think we deserve some merch to represent that HU$TLE out loud so that’s exactly what I was able to produce.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn my comfort zone and what I thought made me who I was. Let me clarify.
Most people do not know this about me but for the past six years I’ve had an active stalker, and I don’t mean physical outside my window stalking like most would think, I mean as far as cyber stalking and cyber bullying.
And in this industry when your face and your name is your money maker you have to hold your tongue and fight the common urge a lot. In this situation specifically my identity was being stolen, my name was being dragged through the mud, and due to the trauma i lost the love for myself and for my creative habits all together.
I gave into those projections for a long time to the point where that comfort zone wasn’t who I was, and I knew that that wasn’t who I wanted to continue to be.
I had to unlearn every wall that I built to protect my feelings, I had to unlearn all the things that I thought I could do freely, as a normal person, like posting my day-to-day routine and posting how I feel, because it would be used against me. that all boiled down to unlearning who I was as a whole at that time.
With unlearning the old me I was able to learn and build up the new me through spiritual knowledge and mentorship by people that have been there before. And here I stand in 2022 beautifully, with my head held high as ever, my confidence strong and solid, and my light shining bright.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
I had the opportunity to make summer walker a pair of press on nails once, I literally skipped work that day to get it done I was so excited. When it came time to meet her and deliver the set I woke up and had car troubles, it seemed like everything that could go wrong was going wrong.
As I’m in route to the drop off there was a horrible car accident and it blocked me from reaching my destination but by the grace of God I was able to find another route of transportation and get to the location on time.
Even though she went into labor and I couldn’t deliver them I was still over the moon at the opportunity and proud of myself at the fact that I can say I did what needed to be done for my business.
