We were lucky to catch up with Kayla Logue recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kayla, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Kayla is on a mission to help individuals sculpt their own destinies and redefine success. “In a world where we are so focused on chasing an illusion of perfection and checking other people’s boxes, we forget to check our own. We find ourselves encapsulated in a life we feel lost in out of fear of judgment, validation, and disappointment of others to only find ourselves not living up to our own authentic standards. We struggle with understanding what purpose, success, happiness, love and all the incredible things we thought we would achieve by living life the way we thought we should. When in reality, we are so blinded by the façade of society’s approval we forget to ask ourselves this very important sequence of questions – who am I? what do I want? and who do I want to become?”
These words being Kayla’s, her mission is breaking the barriers to answer these questions. With her several contradictory views to our ingrained societal programming, Kayla tackles the importance of learning to love yourself first and exemplifies how to create this strong relationship by taking extreme responsibility. She provides guidance, support, and inspiration through her own personal experiences to demonstrate by cultivating confidence and awareness for personal development and growth, redefining success individually becomes possible.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Kayla has a diverse and accomplished background in multiple professional fields. She graduated from the University of South Carolina Beaufort with a BA in Communications, earning high honors. She is experienced in broadcasting, corporate communications, HR, and fitness studio management. She is now an Author, Non-Profit Founder, Personal Development Expert and Motivational Speaker.
Amidst the challenges of 2020, marked by the start of the COVID pandemic and the end of her marriage, Kayla embarked on a new journey. During this period, she managed local social media accounts and laid the foundation for her sister’s current full-time business. In February 2021, she joined a land development/real estate company, as a Property Specialist. Within four months, she obtained real estate licenses in four states where the company holds property and quickly became a powerhouse in the real estate industry, claiming the crown of their #1 Top Sales Producer her first full year.
She recently founded the non-profit organization Move Into Words. This initiative aims to establish a supportive environment advocating for sustainable mental and physical health habits, enabling young professionals to thrive. The non-profit raises awareness about the impact of journaling to empower individuals in search of purpose. While journaling provides confidence for independent healing, growth, and purpose discovery, the non-profit offers a supportive community, so these individuals do not have to navigate their journeys alone.
Kayla’s first book, Always Squeezing Lemons, about taking responsibility to define our own success is launching on May 28th, 2024!
“We are all experts in our own experiences.” Kayla says. Her diverse background reflects the importance of continuous learning from everyone we encounter. Her extensive journey, with writing consistently at its core, reinforces the belief that journaling, a practice she embraced in the summer of 2020, can have a monumental impact on self-discovery, growth, healing, defining, and creating success, and building confidence.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I recently wrote a piece about qualities of REAL leaders and I shared the title of a leader means nothing if the person’s actual act of leadership is poor.. And this is what I mean by a REAL leader. A real leader would never identify as one, no matter what their title was, without their “meaningful body of work” matching their output, systems, and motives to lead a team to a desired outcome.
A real leader is defined internally by their character, standards they hold themselves to, their ability to take extreme responsibility, and embodying these values in their everyday lives to be an example for others to do the same. This is the first and most important result of great leadership–there must first be an actual great, real leader.
Real leaders do not identify in their title as a leader. They show up through their processes, actions, and the results their team is capable of producing. They hold this responsibility to the highest regard. For this reason, real leaders understand that to reach a desired outcome, they are responsible for truly leading their team to success.
Maintaining high morale starts with a great leader. When the person is able to be a REAL leader the result is great leadership with a team that is inspired, trust is instilled, clear communication is present, empathy and support are constant, the culture is resilient and the team is empowered, loyal and committed.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Once, I chased an illusion of perfection, seeking a happiness that never felt real. That old version of me was trapped in surface-level fulfillment without real joy. The “new me” revels in life’s beautiful mess, embracing the failures and challenges that make me strong and resilient.
The “old me” followed the expected path – college, marriage, sacrificing my dreams. I was numb, without goals, quitting on myself. One day, I woke up and decided to quit quitting on myself. With $900 and boundless uncertainty, I left that life behind. It was liberating.
This led to a journey of growth and the birth of the “new me.” I found success in ways I couldn’t have predicted, becoming a top sales producer, started a non-profit and even wrote a book about my journey. My belief in myself was the first step.
I’ve learned to communicate effectively, build relationships, and practice self-awareness. I’ve grown confident, courageous, unafraid of failure or rejection, and unapologetically authentic. I didn’t make excuses or let fear hold me back.
Now my mission is to share with you how you can turn your life into a beautiful mess filled with joy and purpose. By embracing your imperfections and pursuing what’s truly important, you can discover the limitless happiness I’ve found.
